One Journey to the Social Inclusion
Date du début: 1 juil. 2009,

Our project is aimed at continuing helping young disabled people in Finland and Bulgaria gain self-confidence and better understanding of their human rights and inclusion opportunities within EU. We plan to extend our knowledge and possibilities from the exchange we started last year in Bulgaria. With this project we try to have participants achieve independence and experience full citizenship at EU level. The method of this project is a bilateral exchange of 8 to 10 young disabled people who would spend a week in each of the respective countries. As we started this in Bulgaria we will not move to Finland. We plan to achieve high level of understanding of Finnish culture, disability policy in Finland and the organizational strengths that Bulgaria could possibly adapt from Finland. With the implementation of the new personal assistance laws in Finland it is even more vital to adapt good practices.Bulgarian and Finnish young people with extensive disabilities will be provided personal assistance, needed transportation and other support they might need during the project in order to be able to visit many Finnish institutions such as parliament, municipal authorities, cultural institutions and other significant venues. This is expected to contribute to their mutual understanding and long-lasting contacts, communication and sustainable development. The exchange will take place between 3rd and 10th August.
