Context and idea of the project In May 2014 The Knot together with Droni (Georgia) implemented also an outdoor training in the mountains of Bakuriani in Georgia. This intensive training for youth workers ended in a discussion on the last day during the evaluation to continue working on the use of outdoor and experiential learning in another setting. Here the idea was born to set up a Long Term Training course on Outdoor Education and Experiential Learning. In 2015 we started to write the first part of the LTTC on Outdoor Education and Experiential Learning, and this part was already granted by the NA. The first part has been started up already, and a steering committee with the trainer team and steering members was held in Georgia in December ‘15 lately. The first training course is scheduled from 31th August till the 8th of September 2016. All partners are updated and received a call for participants and all necessary information about what to do and what to be expected from the partnership. Also the call for partners has been spread through the SALTO calendar. The overall concept of the training course is to meet over a period of 2 years’ time 3 times in a residential training with the same group of youth workers to train them in using outdoor education and experiential learning techniques and methods as well as personal development of themselves in youth work. Overall aim andobjectives of the LTTCTo increase the leadership skills and self-confidence of the European youth workers, using Outdoor Education and Experiential Learning method as a tool for personal growth and group developement while working with their inclusion groups and by using using nature in all its aspects. Overall objectives:• Raising ability to transfer outdoor education and experiential learning concepts into day-to-day youth work practice.• The ability to use the power of nature for individual- and group development. • Establishing future co-operation groups among participants that will develop outdoor training project and use experiential learning in their daily work.• Equipping participants with concrete activities/workshops they can use back home in their daily work.• Understanding of theoretical knowledge of the concept of Outdoor Education and Experiential Learning.Aims and Objectives of this particular application (phase 2 = Step 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2. and 2.4 of the LTTC)Improving the development of personal- and group competences by using outdoor education and experiential learning methods, with a special focus on using those methods in working with diverse groups of youth. The objectives below make this aim more specific:• Reconnecting the group together with the trainers team and steering group members.• Sharing coaching experiences and e-platform experiences on personal development and partnership cooperation between the 1st and 2nd training course. • Exchanging and sharing experiences, concepts and methods of outdoor education and experiential learning used during the first work practise participants had to do between the 1st and 2nd training course.• Developing cross-cultural awareness by providing structured space for sharing, experiencing and addressing intercultural learning.• Increasing knowledge of personal- and group development using outdoor education and experiential learning methods. • Further development of teamwork, leadership and cooperation skills of the participants by establishing project groups among participants.• Continuing setting up a basis for positive future cooperation within the Erasmus+/Youth in Action program.Profile of participantsThe target group of this training course is composed of youth workers and trainers who are directly working with young people from excluded groups and/or are from these groups themselves. They should have some experience in the training field, as we want them to be able to multiply as effective as possible during and after the training, but this is not absolutely necessary. Motivation for the topic, motivation to join for the whole duration of 2 years, and motivation to be eager to take the chance to set an international project with other participants within the group are more important than having a lot of experience!Furthermore, participants should:• Be aged 20+• Be in good physical shape• Be working on a local or regional level with socially excluded youth • Have proven personal and organisational interest in this training• Be willing to continue cooperation after the training• Able to work and discuss in the English language• In a position within the organization to apply the outcomes of the training, meaning working on issues related to human resource and organizational management• Be fully available during the whole training course (over 2 years’ time) and willing to participate actively also outside of the 3 residential training courses.
