This project is the fifth mobility organized by the Jean Monnet High School of La Queue Lez Yvelines (78). With its experience growing, Jean Monnet High School now offers the possibility to do an internship abroad to all students of its 3 training courses : Sales, Business and Home . To maintain student motivation during the three years of the European section and no longer see the motivation of some students droping down after the training period abroad, the Lycée Jean Monnet now offers a 3-year project .
To ensure consistency in these three years , the teaching team offers students to study the life of Lily Langtry also nicknamed "The Jersey Lily", a famous actress of the nineteenth century , known for her incredible beauty, her actress abilities and her affair with George VII .
This project aims to:
- Maintain student motivation and interest for three years and prevent dropout
- Developing the European culture of the students
- Develop students' language skills in English
- Develop the professional skills of young people in France and abroad
- Facilitate the professional integration of young people from vocational programs in the workplace
- To enhance their training at international and European level
This project involves 19 participants across different specialty training school :
- 5 students enrolled in Sale
- 2 students enrolled in Home
- 12 students enrolled in Retail
During the abroad internship, students will be the first class. They will be aged of 16 and 17 years.
The group will consist of 13 girls and 6 boys. All of its students are enrolled in the European section of the school.
The proposed three-year project is split as follows :
- In year 11 , students prepare their mobility and attend during this year to a preparatory trip to the island of Jersey ( Island of Lily Langtry birth). This will familiarize them with English life aims , British cooking and English professionalism according to their various cursus.
- In year 12 , students will go to Bournemouth ( city where Lily Langtry lived her passion with the Prince of Wales for 3 years) to participate to the experience of being an English student in an English school for 1 week . This year, they will also perform their internship for 4 weeks.
- In year 13 , students will discover Italy (country where the actress was withdrawn at the end of his life ) as an artistic eye .
The management of this project is shared between :
- The administrative team consists of the Headmaster , the Assistant Principal , the service staff and stewardship of CPE.
- The teaching staff consists of an English teacher and a marketing teacher DNL
For the monitoring and management of this project , both teams have established an upstream work program . This work program is materialized through a retro schedule that divides the different activities between the various parties involved in the project ( administrative team , teaching staff , participants in mobility , service ). And to track and monitor the progress of project tasks in time.
The expected participants results are:
- 19 students have improved their level in English which would be verified by a test done upstream and downstream mobility
- 19 Students will learn the habits and customs of other European countries
- 19 students will have acquired professional skills in areas related to the degree prepared
Other qualitative results are also expected as the development of student autonomy , the management of their emotions and stress, the development of the ability to adapt themselves to new lifestyles.
This project is intended to show students that they will have more job opportunities, they can develop their professional skills, and improve their CV by introducing a European dimension in it.
The Lycée Jean Monnet is located in the south of the Yvelines , it is quite remote and not well served by public transports , it wishes to benefit from this experience to be better known , to show its skills in achievement of student projects .
The long-term goal is to attract more and more students and to maintain its training and labeling " Lycée des Métiers " .
