On the Borders between Residential Child Care and Mental Health Treatment in Europe
Date du début: 1 oct. 2012,

RESME consortium develops an innovative multidisciplinary curriculum in continuing education targeted for professionals working in the field of child protection and mental health care. Curriculum covers “a grey terrain” in between two professional sectors, and it is designed together with field actors. It promotes active use of e-learning platform while developing and testing the curriculum with pilot groups in six partner countries. National pilot groups are in contact with each other by virtual environment. To define the competences in practice, project collects best practices in multi-professional cooperation. In comparative research we look e.g. at national service systems, professional qualifications, and ideologies behind residential child care and mental health work practices.Implementation of project is based on multidisciplinary cooperation with actors representing both practical work experience and managerial or wider developing perspective on this field. RESME education manual is exploited for further use in university degree programmes. Associated partners in each partner country play an active role in evaluation and exploitation of RESME outcomes. RESME joint continuing education course is an important tool while promoting more solid multi-professional work in practice. Following the ideas in lifelong learning, continuing education supports personal and professional development. Increased volume of cooperation between these two fields will clarify the roles and work divisions and therefore make the work with children and young people more efficient and higher in quality. At the same time limited resources are used in the best possible way. Transfer of existing good practices is essential for the critical economic situation with demands of savings. RESME publication facilitates professionals for open discussion and new European consortium provides new, innovative forum for further cooperation.
