Alumni society Drustvo za povezovanje dijakov, uciteljev in prijateljev Gimnazije Celje – Center is the leading partner of the project Odpadek = energija (waste = energy). Due to the previous cooperation with youth actions and groups in Serbian town Krusevac and because of the similar cultural background and common historical heritage of our countries, we invited our colleagues from Lipa society of Krusevac to collaborate in this unique, ecological project. Our associated partner, the Lipa society, will try to share the existing knowledge and actions from Celje, Slovenia in the region of Krusevac and implement the results of our project in their future work in the youth filed and to complement the regional and national attempts and politics in the field of ecology and environmental practices that are so far not an everyday practise in Serbia nor an important national and political issue. With our project we will try to accomplish the majority of goals of the Youth in action programme and the group will include 32 young participant (from 15 to 25 years old from different social and cultural backgrounds, 1 of them with special needs and 8 of them with fewer opportunities) and 6 mentors (youth workers) from Serbia and Slovenia. We are aware of the fact that cooperation of cultures, understanding of differences and solidarity is the key objective of omniscience and common development of knowledge, values and experiences that will contribute to a better future in our countries, EU and the world. The project is oriented into exploring and developing of creativity and activity of the participants, that will have an excellent opportunity to present and evaluate the results immediately – to media, public, responsible in the field of politics and public decision makers on local, regional, national and international level. All listed is improving the consciousness and knowledge about the nature of youth work in general and youth actions supported by EU. The project will connect two youth groups in Western Balkans and implement the good example of EU practice and experiences into incoming member states of EU (such as Serbia), pointing out the fact that youth is the motive power of our future development. According to that we will establish a creative platform for multicultural dialogue among all participants that will improve the knowledge and understanding of each other’s cultural, language, historical and economical diversity and strengthen solidarity, tolerance and inventiveness in the field of the main project theme (separation of garbage) and in general. The project will enable new networks and create possibilities for extended or new project actions in the future. All activities will take place in Autumn 2015, first part in Serbia and the second part in Slovenia. A preparatory 3 day meeting is planned in Krusevac in August 2015. Workshops, company and institution visits (garbage depositories, biogas plants, local and national environmental authorities in Celje, Nis, Jablanica and Krusevac), companies that are active in recycling and waste-energy production in Slovenia and Serbia, round tables, work shop on business - start up planning, field actions in Celje and Krusevac, social and cultural events, filming of a documentary movie, social network activities, preparation of a standardised workshop and a publication on theme of gaining energy out of waste (in English, Slovenian and Serbian) meant for all future activities of both partners, public relations and regular evaluations are planned in the activities list of our project. We will use active methods of work, based on informal learning and sharing of knowledge. The final part of activities that will take place in Slovenia will also include the final evaluation of the project (including a general questionnaire, a debate about the project goals and their realisation, pros and contras of the cooperation and the project).
