The project objective was cross-border cooperation in solving common environmental issues. The project´s main objective was drafting a programme of cleaning up and safeguarding the environment together with a proposal of durable solutions, improvement of the environmental situation in the area of the Kolpa River, rehabilitation of illegal waste dumping areas on the Croatian bank and establishment of eco-friendly waste collection points. An important element of the project was also the promotion of the project objectives, which increased the awareness of the population regarding the necessity of keeping the environment clean. In this context a promotional film on cleaning up the banks of the Kolpa River was prepared, several press conferences were held and an eco-event was organised descent the Kolpa River. Achievements: All the planned objectives were achieved: clean up of both banks of the Kolpa River was organised; together with the Croation partners boating down the Kolpa River was organised in order to rise the public awareness; a programme of cleaning up the river banks was prepared which proposed durable solutions adopted by all partners of the project; the conclusions of the study were presented in a workshop. A promotional film entitled Cleaning the banks was prepared and broadcast by the local TV station. Eco-friendly waste collection points were set up along the river at the points most visited by tourists. Workshops were organised to disseminate the results of the project, such as the analysis and promotional film.
