Raising the level of professional competence of our teachers is a top priority, envisaged under the School Strategic Development Plan. This motivates them to participate in Erasmus+ - the EU programme for education, training, youth and sport. The project "Study Abroad" aims to improve the quality of Foreign Language Teaching and of teaching a school subject in a foreign language by raising the qualifications of a group of teachers in Vasil Levski Secondary School, Troyan through their participation in individual training courses in the UK. The project provides for participation of seven (7 ) teachers in individual training courses in the following areas: - Foreign Language Teaching – it will be attended by one (1 ) senior English teacher with the 5th Professional Degree of Qualification (PDQ) who has successfully passed TKT Cambridge exam; - CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) teaching a school subject in a foreign language – for two senior teachers ( a history teacher with the 1st PDQ and a science teacher) and for one junior science teacher . They all teach their subjects in English; - ICT – for three English teachers: a master teacher with the 3rd PDQ , two senior teachers, including one with the 5th PDQ. All participants in this project have a proven desire to improve their knowledge and develop themselves by acquiring new skills. The following activities will be carried out according to the project: - Preliminary preparation of the participants in mobility activities in order to ensure their participation in the selected training course; - Successful integration into the group of teachers from different countries and contribution to its complete work; - Sharing of best practices, knowledge and skills with colleagues, students, and their application in the daily work; - Making a report on the participation in the mobility and dissemination and exploitation of project results . Methodology: - Each participant chooses a course that meets the needs of her professional and personal aspirations to enrich the knowledge and the needs of the sending institution; - The participants connect the training providers to register for the courses chosen by them; - Upon the receipt of the registration, each participant in the mobility begins the preparatory activities in accordance with the requirements of the educational institution and her personal needs in acquiring complete information; - After the approval of the mobility project, each candidate completes her teacher profile and sends it to the institution, where she will be trained; - Upon the completion of the mobility project, a report of the activities will be made. It includes: a presentation of the courses, their objectives and achievements. The participants share the created there and received material about the course. - To ensure successful dissemination of the project activities and in order to spread the ideas of Erasmus +, information on this project shall be summarized and provided to the school site, the school Facebook page and the local and national media. The implementation of this project will enable the achievement of the following results: - Increasing the language competence of the participants; - Knowledge and skills acquired in the courses will be used in foreign language learning in order to prepare students to take successfully the English examinations of the University of Cambridge(internationally recognized ESOL Examinations), at levels B2, C1 and C2 according to the Common European Framework. - The best foreign language preparation and achieved results of the students would raise the prestige of the school internationally and would make it an attractive area for future generations; - Improving the competence of foreign language teaching CLIL; - Competent and critical use of selected resources for teaching the subject in a foreign language; - Enabling teamwork with foreign language teachers from European countries to develop joint projects; - Improving the quality of education through ICT use and implementation of M-learning - learning that takes place with the help of portable technologies such as smart phones, tablets, I-pad and MP3 players, and that will stimulate and motivate students to learn whenever and wherever they want because training is not limited to the classroom; - Providing access to education for students with disabilities who find it difficult to integrate into the classroom. The benefits from the participation of the teachers in mobility and acquisition of new knowledge and skills will be multifaceted and long-term. They will reflect on the increased teacher training, upgrading of teaching and improving the performance of students. Quality of learning in our school will rise to a new, higher level that matches with European programs and requirements for quality education. Application and sharing of best practices will enhance the image of our school.
