OBéSITé QUARTIERS NORD - HAINAUT
Date du début: 31 déc. 2009, Date de fin: 30 déc. 2012 PROJET  TERMINÉ

To change patients mentalities and habits in the cross-border area, the partners have multidisciplinary therapeutic education tools: dieticians, psychologists, health and fitness advisors. With this project, the partners want to develop an integrated prevention and health and social care model for obese persons who are socially vulnerable, and encourage health experts to exchange know-how. As awhole, the project aims at promoting the social inclusion of obese patients. Achievements: Action 1 :Establishing a therapeutic education cycle: training of the Centre Poids et Santé team of the CHU Ambroise Paré in Mons by the French organisation Resto. The training, provided by a dietician, psychologist and health and fitness advisor covered various themes such as self-esteem, affordable quality food or the promotion of physical exercise. The added value of the project consists in transposing the French obesity care model. The philosophy of the model is to focus on outpatient medico-social follow-up in the community. After the training, the Walloon interdisciplinary team is able to go straight into the field.Action 2 :Neighbourhood work carried out in two areas: Mons/Maubeuge and Mouscron/Tourcoing: awareness-raising among the target groups to recruit volunteers to gain experience, and organisation of information sessions and therapeutic education trainings to develop a common approach on prevention and care of obese persons in precarious social positions. Action 3 : Organisation of various workshops (sophrology, welfare, kitchen, Nordic walking, ...) extending the training cycles of action 2, in the neighbourhoods of Epinlieu, Cuesmes, Ghlin, Nimy, Allée des Oiseaux, Tourcoing, Herseaux and Maubeuge. Organisation on 25 October 2012 in Mons of a final symposium From obesity care to prevention: realities and perspectives which brought together around 140 participants, to highlight the project and get the discussion going on solutions for the major public health problem of obesity.
