National and local requirements for students' learning outcomes in basic skills increases. There are high demands on both these levels of school performance for students to be better prepared for their further education. Sagdalen school wants to develop by obtaining new knowledge in relation to new and varied forms of teaching. Through more diverse teaching methods, we hope to strengthen students' basic skills, especially in the subject English.Sagdalen is the school in the municipality with the largest proportion of foreign language learners, and is a multicultural school. By attending courses abroad, we will get new impulses, ideas and benefit from the experiences of others in this work. We see that these courses will provide participants with additional expertise in these areas that can be used for sharing, both internally at school and in the community. Participation in courses in other countries in Europe correspond to municipal plans and school owners desire international cooperation.The school's plan for school development is structured in such a way that the entire staff is committed in professional groups and training cooperation. In this project it is planned that many of the teachers are going to participate on different courses within the school's priority areas so that experience and knowledge is distributed among many. Those attending the courses are obliged to share the acquired knowledge with the whole staff.The school attend three courses in the subject English where the goal is to make the teachers more comfident to teach the subject and learn new teaching methods. Teachers will also improve their knowledge of English language and culture. The school believes that participation in the project will make teaching more practical and activity characterized for students.Participation in two courses about successful integration of students with foreign language backgrounds and their family in the Norwegian school system in general, and Sagdalen school especially, is important. The school is experiencing an increasing number of foreign cultural pupils who start at the school and it is important to have knowledge and educational tools to take care of these in the best possible way. Outcome of courses will be shared with the entire staff, both in school and SFO.
