In this project a group of young people (15-29 years old) assess role of youth in Kajaani as local actors and impact makers in life and decisionmaking during the last ten years by writing a book. Core idea of the book is to make a long term follow up of actions of young people in Kajaani to be able to assess and show if young people could have done some impact and if the idea of Youth Act (72/2006) is fulfilled or not. The writergroup of about 15 members consists of actual and former participants of the Youth Council of Kajaani, different pupils' councils, Young Leaders of Intotalo (kind of youth for youth enterprise center), Youth houses and some youth associations. Group work for planning and preparation of the book in November 2008. Young people write their articles under supervision of researcher, which town of Kajaani has hired for a short period to support young people in their writing process. Decisionmakers' comments on the articles are going to be included in the book. Writing process are done individually, but writer group meets at least monthly during the year 2009 to handle the themes, articles, assess quidlines and to evaluate the process and the product. Book is going to be ready 31.10.2009 and it is going to be published in the 10 year jubileumparty of the Youth Council of Kajaani. Book shall be used as background material in negotiations between young people and decisionmakers for developing "making impact"-possibilities for young people. The book is also going to be delivered to some teachers to be used as an inspiring education material for civic lessons in schools. The aim of writing this book is in this cause to develop not only the position of young people in general but also, of course, group work, evaluation and writing skills of each individual.
