The Hearing of Youngsters in General Synod of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of FinlandNuorten Keskus ry, The Evangelical Lutheran Association for Youth in Finland, a nationwide central and service organization in youth work is organizing a national hearing of yongsters in General Synod of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland in cooperation with The Church Council, The parish of Turku and Kaarina and The Chuch service organisations: Suomen Poikien ja Tyttöjen Keskus – PTK ry The Christian Association for Boys and Girls in Finland, Suomen Ev.-lut. Seurakuntien Lapsityön Keskus ry – SLK The Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Parishes’ Centre for Child Work and Suomen Lähetysseura ry – SLS The Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission. The national Hearing takes place in Turku on the 16th and 17th of May 2013.The General Synod, kirkolliskokous in Finnish, uses the highest authority to make decisions in the Church of Finland. It deals with doctrine and Church work as well as with its legislation, administration and finance. Its permanent members are the Bishops, the Chaplain General, 32 clergy representatives, and 64 elected lay representatives of the dioceses, representatives of the State, and a Sami representative elected by the Sami Parliament. The Archbishop acts as the chairman. Usually the General Synod assembles twice a year for one week each time.The Hearing is part of Youth in Action´s support for European cooperation in the youth field sub-action 5.1, meetings of young people and those responsible for youth policy. The youngsters, 30 of them, are in major role in planning and carrying out the Hearing. A video "Nuoren ääni", voice of a youngster, is being produced before the Hearing and the Hearing itself is being streamed online. Small group work enables the dialogue between the youngsters and the General Synod members in the Hearing. A polytechnical degree thesis is being produced as a part of this sub-actions evaluation.
