Nordic Queen
Date du début: 1 oct. 2015, Date de fin: 30 nov. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The background to the project is that there are very few girls/women who plays chess in Sweden, Norway and Poland. The girls still playing, are in an environment that is highly competitive and male dominated. To strengthen them as individuals and inspire, we want to make an exchange under which visits are carried out in Sweden, Norway and Poland. The project aims to strengthen the chess playing girls' self confidence and strengthen them for the situations and environments that are highly competitive. After the completed project our goal is that the participants should have acquired knowledge about: - How that women can be successful in a highly male-dominated environment - Language skills and cultural knowledge of girls' situation in Sweden, Poland and Norway - What are the different options available to work with chess professionally - How it is to have the world as working field and how to think internationally rather than just nationally We plan three activities in the project. It is to carry out trips to Warsaw, Oslo and Stockholm. Each trip include dialogues with other participants , meetings with female role models and opportunities to gain knowledge about girls/women situations in each country. Participants are also given the opportunity to have contact with other participants between the trips. The project will involve 15 girls aged 13-30 years, with the three included leaders, of each country. In total there will be 45 participants for all countries. Our anticipated impact on the girls participating in the project are that they will be better able to handle situations where they're lonely woman, or just a few women, and where they have to compete with men. We also believe that after having met several women who recieve their income from the girls can see new entrepreneurial opportunities in the chess world. We also expect the meetings with girls from Poland and Norway should provide cultural knowledge and increasing language skills. Participants will also see how to work all over the world and not just in Sweden. The things we enumerated above, we expect to lead to the empowerment of the participants that will be useful to them long time to come, both privately and in their future studies and professional careers.
