New Skills for renewed challenges: sharing and boosting knowledge on EU actions against Transnational Organised Crime

This project is part of the UNICT strategy to contribute to the spreading of EU integration study and legality culture across population. To such aim, exploiting a multidisciplinary and interdepartmental methodology, already succesfully tested within a JM Module funded 2009/2014, a team of scholars and experts proposes a module on the EU Policy against organized crime in order to 1) offer training in the field; 2) activate synergy with civil society; 3) spread scientific outputs to civil society. Objectives: a) To provide students and young professionals involved in the topic, but who do not automatically come in contact with EU integration studies or trainerships with knowledge, skills and expertise on the topic; B) To spread EU related subjects in studies with limited exposure but increasingly affected by European aspects; C) To promote excellence in learning experience, fostering intellectual, professional and personal development; D) to equip participants with tools to increase their professional competitiveness. Activities: 1) An introductory session designed to equip participants with adequate tools to understand the model of governance of the EU JHA Policy 2) Four thematic panels on: a) the EU’s approach towards the fight against organised crime; b) Relevance of the freezing and confiscating activities ; c) Boosting anti corruption activities at EU and MSs levels b) Relevance of recovering the proceeds of crime. 3) A public closing session aiming at 1) summing up annual achievements; 2) permitting participants to evaluate the course’s activity; 3) spreading results to civil society and stake holders. Outputs: 1) scholarly engagement in enhancing public knowledge and understanding of EU policy for tackling the problem of illegality 2) promotion of educational partnerships among scholars and experts with different disciplinary background Outcomes: 1)Educational pattern. 2) Web Site 3) Public conference
