NEW FORUM plans to develop an international competition for young composers or group of artists, and supports the dissemination and performance of new high quality mixed music works or interdisciplinary works commissioned by a network between 3 European new music ensembles (CHAMP D'ACTION, EOC, ENSEMBLE MOSAIK) & GRAME.WHO• 3 new music ensembles from 3 European countries are involved, carrying out the project’s main idea: to create a new mixed music or interdisciplinary repertoire by European young composers across a new international competition based in Lyon.• GRAME invites the composers for a residency, to strengthen and construct the means needed in the coming works by building a context around it and setting up a pool of musicians, technicians and musical assistants dealing with mixed music. WHAT• Competition is open to composers or interdisciplinary group of artists of less than 35 years old. The jury (composed by 2 members of each organisation, each partner can also invites somebody else to be part of it) selects 6 new works or concepts written by composers or groups of artists on a chosen topic. Works are writen for 10 musicians + electronics or for a multimedia project. Each ensemble takes in charge the musical production of 2 of them. The duration of the works has to be around 10 to 15 minutes each. • Residency : GRAME (+ possibly some other French centres for musical research) and Champ d’action make a commitment to invite the 6 composers in residence during 4 weeks (2 periods of 2 weeks each time). A partnership can also be organized between GRAME and CHAMP D'ACTION concerning computer music designers and sound projection. Each music group makes a commitment to invite 2 composers for 1 week in residence before the first performance in Berlin, Antwerp & Lyon.• 1 Launch Concert in Lyon and 3 Concerts (2 new works and 1 ensemble repertoire work) will be presented in Berlin, Antwerp and Lyon, and in festivals all over Europe.
