Need for a 'competitiveness union' in the EU
Date du début: 1 sept. 2014, Date de fin: 31 août 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

In the framework of current Jean Monnet project, we plan to continue our ongoing activities in the field of teaching and research on the economy of the EU. These activities have included following EU policies shaping the economy of the EU (incl. competition regulation and the single market project), studying the convergence of New Member States and overall cohesion in the EU, exploiting the regional development possibilities thanks to the incoming EU funds, and assessing the advantages and disadvantages of joining the Eurozone. In addition to these, we also plan to pursue new activities, especially the study and research on competitiveness of the EU as a whole, and the exploration of intra-EU imbalances in competitiveness as we believe that being competitive is going to be crucial in the future of European integration in the globalised world. We plan to introduce the competitiveness topic in our MA and PhD trainings, and also in our research activities. Outside this widening of our intellectual scope, we also strive for developing new physical and virtual forums for discussion, hopefully providing food for thought to our colleagues, students, and our wider public. We plan to develop multi-layer educational contents (in Hungarian and English) that make it possible for all stakeholders to go as deep into the various issues as they wish. We plan to establish a research group. We plan to organise an international conference on competition and cooperation in the EU internal market. We plan to participate actively in European discussions on competitiveness, in the form of membership in international scientific associations and participation at international conferences.
