PROJET
TERMINÉ
The project we would like to realize is closely linked to the School Development Program and is adequate to the provisions contained in educational strategy of Tychy, which implies adaptation of vocational education to the contemporary challenges of the knowledge-based economy. The participants of the project will be young people trained to work in catering and hotel industries, teachers of catering and hotel professions and teachers of professional foreign languages.
The aim of the project is acquiring the knowledge and professional skills as well as the improvement of the English language and basic vocabulary in Portuguese and Italian.
We predict that we will send to Portugal 4 groups of 10 students. In every group there will be students trained to be caterers and hoteliers and we would like to send two groups of 8 teachers to Italy. Due to the fact that some of the students would be underage, every group will be accompanied by one teacher.
Planned dates of departures for students:
I group – 10 students + 1 teacher. Date: May 2016
II group – 10 students + 1 teacher. Date: June 2016
III group – 10 students + 1 teacher. Date: July 2016
IV group – 10 students + 1 teacher. Date: August 2016

I group – 11.07.2016 – 17.07.2016
II group – 18.07.2016 – 24.07.2016
The main goals of the project:
getting familiar with the techniques of preparing Mediterranean dishes
getting familiar with innovative techniques of serving hotel guests at hotel reception desks
preparation of hotel rooms
preparation of conference rooms
getting familiar with the proper ways of setting tables and table decorations for various occasions
improvement of English language used for professional purposes
The expected results of the project:
the ability to use English professional language
greater chance of getting a job in restaurants and hotels after graduation
practical and theoretical knowledge on the functioning of international restaurants and hotels
gaining transparency of qualifications and acquired skills by Europass documents
pedagogical innovation
The acquires skills will be useful for the students after returning to Tychy in restaurants and hotels, where their practical classes are held, in their future careers and personal development. In the future the skills increase their chances of employment in the region, the country and abroad. In addition, we want them to become creative and enterprising, which may motivate them to start their own business.
The teachers of catering and hotel professions and teachers of professional foreign languages by taking part in this project will have an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with techniques of preparing healthy Mediterranean food, they will learn marketing strategies applied in hotel and catering industries in Italy and first of all they will improve the knowledge of professional language.
Those issues will introduce the teachers to the practical aspect of the subjects they teach. All the participants will get important knowledge on the education system in Italy and after the project they will modify their ways of teaching. It is expected that after taking part in this project, the teachers will use the knowledge, which they acquired during the traineeships, while giving their lessons. After the project the teachers of professional foreign languages and the teachers of subjects related to catering and hotel professions will be able to work together in order to prepare lessons in English or German connected to preparation of Mediterranean dishes applying the rules of healthy nutrition. This combination of gastronomic lesson in a foreign language will be a form of educational innovation which we would like to introduce to our curriculum in the future.
That kind of lessons may constitute a good preparation for our students to work in the catering and hotel industries on the European market because of paying special attention to both professional and language skills. It will also motivate the students to acquire general knowledge (learning across the curriculum).
Our school will appoint experienced people to manage the project. All participants will receive support by additional language preparation (English, Portuguese and Italian). Students will participate in meetings with a guidance counselor in order to prepare themselves for new environment and work under time pressure. With the host organizations will be signed partnership agreements with the attached program of activities (for students) and the training program (for teachers). Tickets, insurance and transfer from the airport to the places of accommodation will be purchased. All groups will be subject to monitoring by the host organizations, head teachers and Polish counselors (for young people). After the completion of the project will be carried out an evaluation, which will provide information on the project objectives and guidelines for further work on future projects
