Nature conservation of forests and peatlands in Finland

This project aims to host a volunteer from Hungary at the Finnish Nature League (FNL), an organisation based in Helsinki, Finland. The volunteer will be involved in a project that deals with forest and peatland protection campaigns at the national level. Volunteer can have a possibility to participate also campaigns concerning the forests surrounding the capital area where major part of the population lives.A few project tasks: collecting field data on valuable biodiversity areas, creating materials and presentations on them to be used in campaigns for protecting the biodiversity. One important task is to give knowledge to wider public about EVS and the conservation activities. Volunteer will explore the threats to the forests surrounding the capital area and compare these to the situation with forests surrounding Budapest. One major activity will be enhancing co-operation between different nature protection organizations in Finland. In the frame of the project FNL hosts a voulnteer from Hungary for period of 12 months. The volunteer will mostly work in Helsinki and the summer months she will do field-work in the forests in Southern-Finland.
