The project is called „Our school – window on the world”. It aims at increasing practical skills as well as professional and language competences of the employees' at Gimnazjum no 1 im. Ziemi Świeckiej. It involves getting acquainted with new teaching methods and tools, innovative teaching and learning methods, improving the usage of modern IT in the school to give the school a European dimension.Implemantation of the project is to be conducted through participating in particular methodology – language courses. There are seven people participating in the trainings with various professional advancement and work experience. There are 4 language teachers, 2 teachers of other subjects (chemistry, Polish) and a librarian teacher. The teachers were chosen on the basis of specific criteria: permanent full time employment, participation in a number of school and international interschool projects ( Polish - German Youth Exchange, e-Twinning) and the participants' willingness to upgrade their professional skills , share their knowledge, work in a team, use a variety of English publications and sources to update the knowledge of the taught subject.Our main goals are as follows:➢ Improving language competence and communication skills➢ Being among native speakers➢ Developing cultural awareness and knowledge on vital political and social issues➢ Developing creativity and readiness to improve professional and personal competence➢ Gaining knowledge about innovative methods and forms in the process of foreign language teaching➢ Making international contactsProject activities:1. Preparatory action:➢ Analysis of the teaching workshop of the project participants➢ Preparation for planned mobility, upgrading language skills, gaining cultural awareness of the region the course is based➢ Choosing appropriate courses according to the project objectives➢ Booking a course, accommodation and flight tickets➢ Getting knowledge about Europass – Language Passport and Language – CV2. Realization of the project:➢ Participating in the chosen courses and trainings ( 8 methodology – language mobilities , 7 language mobilities)➢ Implementing planned objectives in developing methodology and language competence➢ Using gained knowledge and skills in educational work (innovative and effective teaching methods and forms, elements of culture)➢ Making new international cooperation3. Evaluation and disseminating:➢ Making a survey among students to examine the level of pupils' motivation to study after launching new teaching methods and techiques➢ Making analysis of annual teaching results in foreign languages, GCSE exam and language competitions➢ Sharing gained knowledge with school colleagues through 'open lessons'➢ Organizing meetings for teachers from other schools to present the action and final effects of the project➢ Informing OP, RP, RR about the project achievements and publishing in the media (newspapers, Facebook)Expected results of the project:➢ Raised language competence of the teachers➢ Enhanced pupils' motivation to learn English and making them aware of the need to communicate efficiently in a foreign language, resulting in higher language competence➢ Knowledge transfer to students in an interesting way by using authentic materials from foreign-language countries gained by teachers during the courses➢ Practical usage of innovative teaching methods, new ways of lesson planning, and thus enriching the teacher's workshop, to conduct more interesting, pupils involving lessons, while developing all language skills➢ Experience exchange between the participants of international training courses, as well as setting up new contacts to planned school international projects.➢ Better co-operative skills and mobility in an international environment➢ Eliciting pupils' ideas for new initiatives and projects undertaken in the framework of the international school exchange.
