Date du début: 1 janv. 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The main objective of this project is to explore and get to know in depth youth clubs and youth houses in Lund, Sweden, compare and share best practices, explore how our colleagues work with 10-12 year olds and get to know the youth-council concept. In our municipality we have had a form of youth-club council operating for over 3 years now and we are forming a youth council with 13-17 year olds. The youth-club council consists of 2 members from each of the 9 youth clubs in our municipality which actively influence organization and execution of local events. The object of the youth council is to create a platform for under 18 year olds to participate and have their voices heard by the municipality administration, create a platform to be educated and trained in democratic practices, to guard the interests of youth in our municipality and to be advisory to various committees related to youth affairs. Participating in this project are the directors of the youth clubs of Kópavogur municipality, director of the youth house, staff member from the recreational club for handicapped youth and administrators of the department of youth and leisure. This is a diverse group with various education and experience but all of us have worked for a long time in the field of preventions, youth and leisure and have various higher education which is useful in our field of work. We will visit workplaces, interact with foreign staff and youth, exchange best practices, ideas and methodology and directly create a plan of action how to implement the ideas of youth-council concept in our municipality. We hope to learn enough to be able to implement their ideas of youth council and continue to work with our project partners in various aspects. We believe this project will lead to good things for youth democracy in our municipality, in Iceland and increased participation of youth in democratic practices.
