Vormingplus Limburg vzw is a social-cultural organisation that organizes education for adults in their free time. With our project, we want to focus especially on two challenges that we experience now in our organisation. A first challenge is to focus more on social education. We notice that it is difficult to work on social engagement and change of behaviour through short courses. That is why we want to focus more on longterm courses, where we can facilitate learning processes. A second challenge is to reach more specific target groups. For these challenges we are searching for new methods to achieve our goals. We want to strenghten our staffmembers in giving training courses, in working with specific target groups and we want to train them into process coaches.
To fulfill these educational needs in an European context has a great added value for us. In that way we can place our challenges in an European perspective, exchange ideas with other organisations and work on an European network.
We selected two staffmembers who are responsable for longterm training courses and for working with specific target groups. They work each day with our two challenges, and are eager to learn more about this. They have chosen to do this through two specific training courses wich deal with our two challenges, storytelling and facilitating change and learning. We noticed that the method of "storytelling" is very valuable in working with etnic-cultural minorities. Now we want to amplify this method also to other target groups. It is important that our organisation learns more about this methode.
After the training courses we expect to have a number of practical tools that we can use in our own courses. We hope that we have acquired more competences after the training courses, to work with groups and to facilitate change and learning. We also want to reflect on the position of our organisation as a facilitator of learning. We want to use this to focus more on longterm courses and in working with specific target groups. Finally we also think that the personal enrichment of the staffmembers is important.
We think that the training courses can have an impact on a local and national level. At a local level by using the experiences in our own courses across Limburg. We want to do this by including our freelancers and volunteers, e.g. through a training where we can exchange the new methods and the experiences of the training courses. We will also announce the results of the training courses to our partners in Limburg. At a national level, we want to exchange our experiences with the other Vormingplussen in other provinces.
Finally we hope that we can keep being part of an European network, also after the training courses. In this way we can exchange about adult education across Europe. We will share our experiences with our colleges in our own organisation but also with the colleges of the other Vormingplussen.
As a long term benefit we expect that the training courses can contribute to a new way of working, by focus more on change and learning processes. Finally we hope that the learned competences will contribute to a larger reach from specific target groups, like etnic-cultural minorities or low-skilled persons.
