Thanks to the project 25 students of our school could gain work experience in companies and organizations in England and Ireland. The project has enabled to continue in cooperation between sending organization and its foreign partners.
The main objective of the project was to improve the quality of practical training of students, to enable them to get certified practice abroad that will enhance their professional level, improve their level of English and will lead to better employability.
Participants gained new expertise, skills and competencies during internships. They got familiar with the operation of foreign enterprises, their organization and methods of work. They acquired work habits, deepened their social skills and integrated into the workforce. The project helped to develop their independence, flexibility and labor mobility. Participants have also met the new cultural environment and they had to integrate into it.
Project participants were students of the 3rd year of the four-year graduation courses studying IT, engineering, means of transport or economics and business. 15 participants traveled to England and 10 to Ireland. Each group was accompanied by one teacher. Students completed a three-week internship as part of their compulsory professional practice. The contents of the internship corresponded to the field of study of the participants. Participants focused on engineering (3 in Ireland and 6 in the UK) worked in engineering companies and garages. Participants focused on means of transport (2 in Ireland and 1 in the UK) worked as engineers in the garage. Participants focused on IT (3 in Ireland and 8 in the UK) worked in educational organizations. Participants orientated on Economics and Business (2 in Ireland) worked on administrative positions.
Before leaving for an internship participants attended preparatory courses and seminars, exactly an English course, cultural training, professional and practical training.
The results of the project are mainly in intangible form and relate to the knowledge, skills and competencies of the participants. The tangible results include certificates, ECVET protocols “Placement evaluation”, photographs and other documents. Each participant received Europass Mobility. We have created 11 units of learning outcomes in ECVET so that the internships could be evaluated.
The project has brought improvement of vocational and language training of our students and hat will surely bring their better employability. The project supported the training of skilled workers with language skills in the areas of engineering, means of transport, IT and administration, which meets the requirements of employers in our region.
From the European perspective, the contribution of the project to increase labor mobility, improving foreign language skills and the implementation of European validation tools Europass Mobility and ECVET have been important.
