The work programme for 2016 is in line with ESIB 3-year strategy (2015-2017) and is adapted to the recent developments caused by the conflict in Syria and the global response in support of migrants and refugees. There are three major types of activities to implement in 2016. These are: statutory events, HE policy related activities and work as expert/ HE stakeholder and networking for organizational development. All these correspond to the four HE policy areas where ESIB is active and represents and defends the rights of the students: Social Dimension of HE; QA and student centered learning; students’ mobility and international cooperation and funding for the HE.The type of actions that will be undertaken in 2016 are: big events (European Students Conventions and Board Meetings), events for planning and coordination(Executive Committee meetings); Campaigns; Surveys and publications(Reports; Opinions; Motions); Networking events(own and organized by other organizations) for strengthening the international cooperation among youth and students’ organizations around the Globe; participation in thematic working groups for HE Committees of CoE, BFUG, UNESCO, etc.To achieve the goals for 2016, ESIB will create synergies between the Operating Grant and other grants such as: ESPRIT Tempus project; PASCL and IDEAS Erasmus LLL projects; QAREER Erasmus+ project; Open Society Foundation and Euro-MED ENPI small project. Some of the planned activities are on-going( data gathering, policy monitoring and advocating, participating in working groups meeting etc), while others have specific deadlines(statutory events); some involve mainly ESIB elected representatives, while others are aimed at and directly involve large number of members(full and associate). The planned work is realistic and has a potential for further adaptation and greater impact if some of the projects in the pipeline (awaiting evaluation) are to be approved and start their implementation phase in 2016. There are two project proposals aimed at providing support to Syrian academics and students- refugees. These are to be funded by Madad fund and Euro-MED ENPI programme ( the first proposal is led by SPARK, The Netherlands and the second one- by Ben Gurion University, IL).
