EFSLI schools & meetings: further EFSLI schools are planned in Serbia, Ireland, Norway and Italy. Trainings will be combined with meetings with the interpreter and deaf associations, to stimulate collaboration between practitioners and service users in the further development of training and services. Target groups: interpreters, members of interpreter and deaf associations.Training the trainers: in Dec. 2013, the EFSLI publications “Learning Outcomes ” and “Assessment Guidelines ” were launched in the EP in an event hosted by 2 MEPs and the Director Generals of the 3 main DGs involved in the interpretation and translation fields. The EFSLI Committee of Experts, formed by academics from across Europe,will follow up the work begun in 2011, focusing in the detected need for fully trained trainers in order to set up quality sign language training programs that make possible students to achieve the above mentioned learning outcomes. This action line aims to present a "training the trainers" guidelines in 2014. This document will be circulated among educational institutions and policy makers across Europe as an open educational source. EFSLI will encourage members and partners to disseminate it with their national public authorities in charge of education. EFSLI will keep DG Interpretation, DG Education and Culture and DG Translation updated of the results and discuss further developments. Target groups: policy makers, training programs.Trainers´seminar: trainers and researchers from over 20 countries will meet to further develop best practices on training and to discuss about an integrated approach of the interpreters training.Deaf interpreters seminar: EFSLI is promoting the training and further develop of the profession of deaf interpreter. After the huge success of the 2 first editions of the seminar (Vienna 2012, Ljubljana 2013) EFSLI established in 2013 a permanent deaf interpreters committee and will organize a European seminar for deaf interpreters in order to promote their profession and the specific training needed to carry out their work. In addition, the first deaf interpreter member of the EFSLI board (elected in 2013), will act as liason with deaf organisations.Annual conference in Belgium: The aim is to provide an international platform for all stakeholders (researchers, practitioners, trainers, service users, service providers and policy makers) to discuss recent and needed developments, and to share expertise and findings. At least 200 participants from 25 European countries are expected. Conference proceedings will be published.Advisory task: To provide advise to new and current educational programmes for interpreters. In 2012 EFSLI has set up a Commitee of Experts in training and education. In addition, a new policy paper on legal interpreting is foreseen to be approved the general assembly.Participation in events: To exchange information and further developments in the education of interpreters, EFSLI will actively participate at significant international interpreter related events. These events are, e.g. the International Symposium organised by Gallaudet(world leader in sign language interpreting training & research),the European Union of the Deaf annual conference (EUD), the international workshop on IT for interpreter trainers organised by the international association of conference interpreters (AIIC). Target groups: spoken & sign language interpreters, educators, policy makers, and service providers
