PROJET
TERMINÉ
The main 2014 areas of work for ESIB are centred on 4 key policy areas: Quality, Access and Support, Public responsibility and Internationalisation/ Mobility. In addition there are overarching policy areas that touch on all the key areas, or policy clusters as they are known in ESIB. These are the structural aspects and documents in the Bologna process framework as well as EU policies. A large part of ESIBs planned activities are outcomes of EU funded projects. One of ESIB main long term aims is to have sustainable project outcomes in line with our long term policy aims. The proposal would be a key factor in achieving this aim. For example the Quality Assurance pool that ESIB runs feeds student experts directly into all of the QA reviews of QA agencies and international reviews of HEIs in Europe. The pool is the result of a previous project but needs continued support to achieve maximum impact. It is one of many examples of ESIBs policy work that is directly in line with Europe 2020 and the Bologna objectives and where we are a key actor in implementing the priorities and objectives. Without additional support sustaining such a structure would be difficult. The main methodology used to achieve the aims is work done by the voluntary elected people in ESIB. They are coordinated by ESIB presidency and supported in their work by the secretariat. The voluntary people in turn coordinate other volunteers nominated by NUSs or from ESIBs alumni. ESIB elected people actively engage in the large variety of HE events across Europe and promote ESIB policy objectives and the overarching objective of student and stakeholder engagement. The target groups of ESIB policy work vary greatly depending on the policy area and on its focus. HE is very complex and the target groups vary depending on the aims to be achieved, e.g. the work ESIB does on teaching and learning is aimed at several target groups incl. student representatives, teachers, HEIs and policy makers on a European as well as national level. The student reps will receive trainings in how to promote SCL, the HEIs will be surveyed and labelled, and policy makers will receive recommendations in various contexts such as conferences and meetings. The EC’s recent Communication on European HE in the World has been welcomed by ESIB as the organization is committed to support the implementation of a strategy for internationalisation. However ESIB considers that few key policy areas such as equal treatment and mobility as a right can be improved and thus activities in support of this are planned for 2014.2014 being a year of EU Parliament elections will also influence ESIB Public responsibility for education activities: A special campaign has been launched in February aiming at bringing the issue of HE to the forefront of the EP election debate and to present students’ expectations in relation to the development of HE in Europe. ESIB is actively engaged in the policy developments on the European level, this included e.g. the development of the new European Standards and Guidelines and the Social Dimension strategy. ESIB has a long history of successful projects and partnerships. This is planned to continue in 2014. The projects are mainly in the policy areas relating to Quality and Transparency and Access and Support. More details about ESIBs many activities can be found in the attached Plan of Work.
