The work programme of EADTU of 2014 is organised along some (multi-annual) core action lines:• Strategies and Policies: building with the rectors and the associations a shared vision for the role of open and flexible HE towards 2020/2030 and influencing European and national policies; supporting members in their national context; interacting with members on EU consultations; organising Europe-wide seminars. (Act.1,2,3,4,5,10,11,13)• EMPOWERing HEI’s in their transition to online/blended education. Selecting partner universities for a pilot; constituting the EMPOWER TF and expert pools; developing the action framework; defining modules on governmental policy, institutional policy, course/curriculum design, student and staff support, assessment and certification. Preparing executive seminars at the institutional and governmental level, staff training within universities, based on institutional priorities. Awareness raising activities. (Act. 18,11)• OpenupED aiming to open up education to all learners interested to take part in online HE. It offers almost 200 high quality learner-centered MOOCs in 11 languages, designed for self-learning. Daily operations (Act.14), dissemination and awareness raising (Act.15), increasing impact and outreach (Act.16), monitoring, evaluation and research (Act.17). • E-xcellence quality benchmarking for online/blended learning at EU level. This involves activities by the Expertise and Service Centre Quality Assurance in settings of on-line and on-site reviews or master classes. E-xcellence is continuously evaluated to optimize it as an improvement tool. Creating a MOOC quality label (Openuped label). Dissemination and guidance of e-xcellence towards ENQA-agencies is supported by the SEQUENT project.(Act.7)• Collaborative curricula and mobility: the TF Humanities is focusing on student and staff exchange through joint seminars in order to give students the opportunity to get an ‘international experience’ during their study. Cooperation with museums (e.g. the British Museum) as part of summer schools. Two meetings in 2014. The TF will involve virtual mobility across members and other institutions to expand online curriculum sharing.(Act.8)• Research and innovation in educational technologies and new pedagogies, establishing a network with R&D units in the membership, that are frontrunners in innovating educational technologies. It explores the creation of collaborative graduate schools and summer schools for mission-related topics (OER/MOOCs, technology-enhanced teaching and learning, online course design, educational games,…) and organises the R&D strand of the EADTU Conference. It facilitates joint research and innovation (Horizon 2020) . It contributes to the pools of experts for EMPOWER.(Act.9,11)• University-business collaboration: a network between members and businesses exploring the possibilities/opportunities of non-formal and informal learning. Preparing knowledge alliances. Act.19)• Communication and information: the use of the website, mail, a bi-monthly newsletter (5000 contacts), the OpenupEd newsletter (7000 contacts), dedicated project dissemination, newsflashes and announcements. The EADTU website will be renewed in 2014, incl. new media and quantifiable instruments selected in 2013. (Act.11,12)• Partnerships with other international organisations: meetings with EUA, UNESCO, EDEN, ENQA, ESU, EUCEN, ESMU and the EADTU Student Council.(Act.10,20)
