MUTLU HAYVANLAR, MUTLU ÇİFTÇİLER (HAPPY ANIMALS, HAPPY FARMERS)
Date du début: 31 déc. 2015, Date de fin: 30 déc. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Animal welfare is to provide the best condition and keep them away from pain and suffering and care of the animals during the entire production process such as feeding, harboring, training, transport and cutting. If an animal is not disturbed, feeding well, in the trust and, is capable of performing the type-specific behavior, not afraid, not under stress or pain, it means that that animal is in welfare and happy. Animal welfare directly affects the animals’ health and productivity. One of the important regulations to implement for Turkey in agriculture is animal welfare, which has become an important criterion for EU livestock support (Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary EU Negotiations, Chapter 12). Correctly implement the legislation in the EU accession process and to have a sufficient capacity in this regard is an obligation. In addition, the creation of appropriate conditions of agricultural structure necessary for human health and welfare is not only for the EU but also for our own people. Livestock is a sector that develops our countries economy, constitutes the highest added value and employment opportunities at the lowest cost. Konya is the heart of the agriculture and animal husbandry in Turkey for reasons such as sophistication of the arable agricultural industry, climatic and topographic structure. However, national and international cooperation between educational institutions in the livestock sector is not enough, training personnel in the industry are unable to follow the teaching methods and vehicles required for age and, unable to develop their professional knowledge and competence. While Europe made progress every day in animal welfare, our province could not reached the desired level of animal welfare and health, profitability and competitiveness decreased, the risk factors of food security increased, export of animal products could not be increased. Our project will be held to teach the information about animal production to farmers in coordination of Konya Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons and in partnership of Bahri Dağdaş International Agricultural Research Institute, Konya Food, Agriculture and Livestock Directorate, Konya, Karaman Agricultural Cooperatives Association and Konya Leader Farmers Association who are carrying out a large number of non-formal education, information and consultancy services. Project Management Unit in which a person of each partner found will be established in the project and, each institution will perform an active role and responsibility in the project's implementation, monitoring, execution, dissemination and reporting activities. In this project participants will take theoretical and practical training and increase their knowledge and experience on cattle behavior, animal welfare and health, farm blindness, inspection and control mechanisms, animal welfare practices during transport and slaughtering, education and training techniques for staff and farmer on these issues and sectoral cooperation professionals. At the same time service quality of institutions giving adult education in the sector will also increase in the EU standards. Our projects goals are; to improve qualifications of the adult education staff providing education to farmers and professional Veterinarians, learning new education and training techniques in the EU dimension, to improve our institutional capacity by providing animal health, animal welfare and food safety in animal production and to increase our competition power to the EU standards. To ensure the protection of human and animal health and the environment will be our strategic priority by national and international sectoral cooperation. Additionally, the expected results of the project in short and long term are; *transfer of knowledge in the teaching and training field for the solution of problems in our region on animal welfare, *the adoption of participants to new knowledge and training methods, to develop their professional competence, the development of language skills and cultural level, the adoption of European and quality concepts, *ensuring the efficiency of animal production, the improvement of food safety, animal welfare and health issues, *to provide added value to the development of animal husbandry in region and country and, to increase our exports in the sector. Our participants are 27 adult education staff people providing training to farmers and veterinarians on Animal Welfare. In order to achieve these objectives and results, theoretical and practical training about 'Farm Animal Welfare in Animals' is planned in Vetvice training center in The Netherlands, which have set an example for other European countries, as a result of its studies, for 10 days of the program between April 03-12 2016 (60 hours course).
