Musique et contestation : une liberté sans limites ?
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 1 oct. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project is a youth exchange about « music and protest: freedom without boundaries? ». Its aim is to gather young non-professional musicians from Belgium, Liechtenstein, Poland, Latvia and France and let them do a concert in connection with the theme. Thanks to the technical and pedagogical partnership with the city of Narbonne, the project will benefit from the infrastructure, the staff and the equipment of the « Hangar », a rehearsal and recording place for local bands. The final concert will take place during the summer events organised by the city of Narbonne. Each national group is composed of non-professional musicians playing different instruments but who are not already forming a band (one bass player, one guitarist, one singer, one drummer etc.). The aim of the final production is to form international groups, which will write songs together and present them on stage within our international framework. Apart from the musical work, the participants are also going to reflect on the theme of freedom of speech. Indeed the project cannot be implemented without taking into consideration what happened in France with the attacks against Charlie Hebdo. Therefore workshops will be proposed in order to support the writing of songs on subjects such as: is art a world apart from the real world, with its own rules or without any rules? Are there boundaries to the freedom of speech? Are we allowed to make fun of everything? Is there Censorship or self-censorship? Let’s live together and communicate! We do not wish to give answers to those questions but ask and reflect on them jointly with young people and provide input for the artistic productions at the end of the exchange.
