Musiikkia, kieliä ja kansainvälisyyttä - Iisalmen kansalaisopiston opettajien täydennyskoulutushanke
Date du début: 1 août 2014, Date de fin: 31 juil. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Iisalmi Community College (Iisalmen kansalaisopisto) is an educational institution supported by the central government and Iisalmi City. From the students, 90% are adults. Internationalization has been selected as a strategic priority for the institution with a decision by the town's Cultural Board in 2013. This ongoing education project of language and music teachers and the principal aims to continue the College's internationalization process and improve the quality of teaching. The principal and the language teachers involved would, in the two-year period, attend six different languages courses in England, France and Spain. In addition to this, the College's eight music teachers will familiarize themselves with group teaching methods for adults by doing job shadowing periods in France and the Czech Republic. A clear improvement in language skills of the staff as well as an increase in motivation is expected as a result of this project. This will, without a doubt, raise the quality of teaching. It will also be the precondition for long-term maintenance and development of a/the European partner network. New teaching methods in language and music teaching for adults will also raise the quality of teaching, by increasing the versatility and applicability to adult education. For the teachers this development of new skills and teaching methods means a clear improvement in their competitiveness on the labor market. The long-term goal of this project is that it will contribute to the internationalization of Iisalmi Community College and be a part of its everyday life: the staff is regularly in interaction with the European co-operation network. This will hopefully lead to a situation where distance learning via the Internet between countries could also take place.
