All of us, consciously or subconsciously, deal with music every day. It may be claimed that music creates our environment, surrounds us. We very often do not even pay attention to the fact that It is with us almost always, at home, at school, or during shopping in a supermarket. To talk about music, one should first consider the variety of styles offered by this form of expression.
Each person has their own music preferences. During our exchange we will try to analyze what influences people’s musical choices – why do some people like classical music? Why do others like different, heavier styles? We will also think and discuss the role of music in our lives. The variety of activities connected with music will enable our participants to freely express themselves and include a part of themselves in any actions that we will get involved in. Sharing their experience and music preferences, young people will have a unique chance to get familiarized with different musical styles that the have never encountered before. It will be a great opportunity to discuss local and folk music as well as popular, mainstream music. All of those styles, songs, melodies will serve to draw participants’ attention to cultural differences of various countries and the beauty of diversity. Though music, we will help youngsters express their feelings and broaden their horizons.
Apart from the obvious aim of our project, we will also attempt to boost the awareness of the benefits of European activeness and cooperation. We will encourage young people to work for their society and become involved in various initiatives on a local, national and international scale.
The project associates 84 people who come from Poland, Belarus, Croatia, Romania, Greece and Lithuania and are eager to actively engage in diverse initiatives. Our exchanges, apart from the basic, main theme, music, will also aim to motivate people living in less developed areas to undertake actions. Direct contact with such people will enable the participants of the project to better understand the adversity those people have to face because of inhabiting such area. Limited access to the variety of music courses may be a case in point. Another substantial problem that people with lower chances’ often encounter is marginalizing them. As a result, they often have difficulties with integration and relations with others. By involving them in actions that we undertake we will try to overcome that problem. To do so we will use music, which is present in everyday life and informal methods of education. We
will also learn from one another. Participants of the projects will be able to use newly gained practices and transfer new methods of
work into their local operations. The exchange, alas, gives the participants the opportunity to enrich their knowledge connected
with other cultures, which develops the spirit of tolerance and mutual respect. Creating a new communication network and
fostering further cooperation will be an outcome of the project and will enable us to launch other initiatives in the future.
