Music Meets Culture IV
Date du début: 1 août 2016, Date de fin: 31 oct. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

"Music Meets Culture IV" is a 7-day-youth-exchange that will be held in Lithuania between Lithuanian, Latvia, Estonian, Italian and Turkish youth. It has been already more than a decade that a European East-West youth network exists. In 2010 organisation from Lithuania ("Youth Initiative Group") became its member, while during the last year also organisations from Latvia, Estonia, Italy and Turkey joined the network. These organisations together developed the project "Music Meets Culture IV". In the framework of the network, every year in one of the network's member countries a common meeting for the youth is being held on the chosen topic. This year the topic is multiculturalism and music. This exchange "Music Meets Culture" is already the fourth one in this topic, and the chosen medium this year is dance. Participants of this project are young people, interested in music and dancing, who either dance themselves (go in for classes, or dance in a group), or participate in other forms of dancing, for instance, dancing theatre and so on. The project is universal, because we talk both about traditional and contemporary dance; besides, even though dancing is in the heart of this project, it is only a means to get in touch with one another's culture and background. Dance is a very powerful form of art: dance can be aesthetically beautiful, but also it can be shocking; we can dance individually, or in twos, but also in a bigger group; dance changes through the time together with the time and it represents the society of concrete epoch; by dance one can transmit inner emotions, but also some social message (as, for example, during dancing flashmobs, or in dancing theatre). Therefore, we strongly believe that this topic is not only interesting, but will find its echoes in everyone's heart. The main aim of the youth exchange "Music Meets Culture" is to create a space for young people from different countries to get to know each other and to develop the understanding of multiculturalism, tolerance and European citizenship employing the art of dance as a means to achieve this aim.
