People who are in a disadvantaged situation suffer consequences that go beyond the mere fact of their basic needs: they are in a situation of isolation and loneliness, from which it is very difficult to get out by themselves. Music therapy through formal and informal education can help these people rebuild their reality.
Therefore, the overall objective of MHS is to go in deep the knowledge and experimentation of non-formal and informal educational tools of this discipline in order to better respond to the universal needs of people in social exclusion.
The specific objectives are aimed at achieving an exchange of working methods of the professional of the partner institutions to compare them and learn new Music Therapy techniques and apply them in a context different from usual.
They also expect to improve the quality of life, the state of physical, moral and spiritual health of people in social exclusion and / or homeless, lowering their levels of anxiety and stress and helping them in the recovery of self-esteem, overcoming isolation, loneliness and disconnection, not only social, but affective.
The group of professionals directly involved in the project include therapists, social action technicians (social workers, psychologists, educators) and skilled laws professionals specialized in the administrative field and project management (national, European and international). All staff has extensive experience in working with people in social exclusion. Moreover, the target population (the users of the various partner organizations of this project) will actively participate in it.
The activities that will be carried out will focus on the Music Therapy formal and informal education techniques, being shared among the professional partners to develop joint working tools that expand their knowledge and enable experimentation and for the users to reach a psychophysical wellbeing.
An active-participatory methodology in which the transnational meetings will be used in order to plan the sharing of the different techniques of Music Therapy approach tested in the partner associations will be displayed. Its application will be evaluated in different contexts through their experimentation (in the workshops and activities adapted to the different training levels and personal and group characteristics of participants). In addition, the results obtained to ensure implementation of Music Therapy in a disadvantaged socio-cultural context will be processed.
Among the expected qualitative results would highlight the acquisition of knowledge about Music Therapy techniques applied to different realities and the possibility of experiencing these innovative techniques to meet the different needs posed the users.
It is intended that these techniques can benefit professional’s interdisciplinary teams involved, who will share innovative Music Therapy methodology, and practitioners in the health area from the different participating countries.
It is also expected that the application of Music Therapy works to treat imbalances in the behaviour of users and non-formal and that informal education can help them to meet their emotions, stimulating the necessary changes to achieve the comprehensive healing of the person that make possible to improve their socio-professional reintegration.
Emphasis will be placed on minimizing the social and personal risks that adversely affect the employability of the most vulnerable people, improving their skills and providing them with tools to become individuals that are more autonomous.
In addition, through the mutual enrichment that provides a transnational project, professionals will expand their knowledge and working tools producing a strong impact using explanatory sessions and social networks as platforms, as well as all the institutions with which we work in network in all partner countries.
