Music bridge - Songs, which connect countries (Lieder, die wie Brücken sind)

In the course of our project entitled "Zenehíd" (Music Bridge) we proved by means of activities of both theoretical and practical nature that music connects people, generations, cultures and nations. The students divided into work groups studied the musical world of the target country according to various aspects. They carried out research into musical works in which the past and the present are intertwined; they have become familiar with songs, the themes of which show both similarities and differences if the collections of songs of the 2 countries are contrasted, they compared the so-called Orff and Kodály methods applied in the teaching of music. They analyzed musical epochs taught at high school, they searched for songs and works which depict historical events of the target country. They studied the preference of the German youth in music by dint of questionnaires compiled by them. They put together a repertoire for different occasions and target groups. We also recorded the results of the group work in writing. The written report and the multimedia project material - are available on the website mucoco.myip.hu with the title "A project of the Comenius cooperations of schools entitled "Zenehíd" (Music Bridge)". We took part in concert performances - in the Town Hall, in masses, in shopping malls and on the Open Day - and at the jubilee concerts entitled "Professional training in Aschaffenburg is 100 years old" and "Szentpáli choir is 25 years old". Our common success enhanced our pleasure in singing together. The recording of the concerts are available on the internet. We held multimedia presentations about the results of the exchange visits for the Hungarian partners. In addition to the student exchange programs we keep in touch both via e-mail and phone. The participants could not only become familiar with the musical world of the partner country, but also the traditions, customs. The language and communicative skills have also developed during the common work
