TERMINÉ
Just as in most of the countries in Europe, Hungary is also facing a serious unemployment problem which affects mostly young people. Every fourth person under the age of 25 is experiencing difficulties in the labour market. This occurrence is particularly severe among premature school leavers and under qualified youth.
Our goal with this project is to implement a two-week, one-way exchange programme, with the participation of 21 Hungarian, German and Bosnian youth (plus their group-leaders) from a disadvantageous background aged between 16-21, usually comes from premature school leaving, under qualification, concentration-, movement-, and the struggle with learning difficulties, or due to unemployment. The project provides a solution for economical and social problems with the means of sustainability and self-preservation education, it paves the way to the labour market, namely the main goal is to encourage the participants to have a self-sufficient and self-supplying way of life, as well as to prove them that the collective work has a great result and impact which affects their environment and also their quality of living.
The location of the programme in Hungary will be Gömörszőlős, which is part of the "living village" network. The benefit of this eco-village is that in addition to the specific programmes, the participants will also have the chance during the joint field trips to see, experience and notice that our consumer society’s resources are finite and how the practical work, and the sustainable philosophy implemented here is exemplary. The work based on our own strength to create, build, and to ensure our own living conditions are an example to be followed, it aims to develop and form the motivation of young people.
The programme consists of three main parts:
1. The goal is nurturing and educating the self-sufficient and self-supplying lifestyle with workshops and field trips. The aim of organic farming activities are to experience success, enlarge working enthusiasm, develop ambition, and persuade of regular daily routine. This way, the participants receive feedback about their personal working capacities, and they are encouraged to take responsibility for their tasks and personal future.
Within the frames of this workshop, participants will learn the basics of organic farming and alternative, environmentally friendly technologies such as solar-dryer, rocket stove, efficient wood burning, etc, the "peasant and wellness" concept, and how to take care of animals. They will learn the basics of recycling and producing toys, jewels and personal articles within the frame of recycling workshops, which they will donate to the local community, and kindergarden. They will also learn how to bake bread, participate in common cooking, and learn how to avoid food wasting.
Their most significant task will be to build a solar-fruitdryer, which they will use to dry the previously picked fruits. They will also produce wrapping for these products and sell them on the local market. The participants will constantly receive feedback from the groupleaders and the mentor, therefore they can make advantages from their program-experiences in their everyday life later on.
2. We would like to strength European identity of the participants, highlight European diversity and its benefits, by holding intercultural trainings. Also, to present their future-opportunities if they want to participate in other EU-funded programmes (EVS, youth exchanges). Or goal is to train open-minded, receptive European citizens, to support peaceful living, promote integration in society, encourage for tolerance, cooperativeness and find the common routes in cultural diversity. Minimal English language training is also part of the training, to highlight the benefits of knowing other languages.
3. Providing life-style and career advises, we are aiming to contribute to the personal development of the participants, by training their social competencies, initiativeness, creativity, problem-solving-skills, help them to realize a future for themselves, give them self-esteem, plan and implement long-term plans, and motivate them to catch good opportunities.
The participants will actively participate in the everyday life of the village by gardening, taking care of their animals, and producing toys for the kindergarden. Therefore the programme has significant effects on the local community as well.
