Multitasking Approach for Quality Professional Training in Tourism and Catering

"Multitasking Approach for Quality Professional Training in Tourism and Catering" is a VET Learner and Staff Mobility Project, supported by Erasmus +, Key Action 1: Learning Mobility of Individuals which offers to 20 students from "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" High School, Slobozia, Romania, the opportunity to participate in a training programme developed in Setubal, Portugal, in the field of Tourism and Catering. The project will give the participants the occasion to gain practical experience (specialised and linguistic competences), to take advantage of professional opportunities in the real conditions of a workplace, to prepare themselves in order to be successfully integrated on the European labour market after graduation, to improve their team-work abilities and also to meet different mentalities and cultures in a new environment.The objectives of the project are:- to increase the level of general and specialised knowledge and to develop skills that can allow students from Tourism and Catering Profile (target group) to develop their professional paths up to Level 4 of qualification;- to develop the key competences, general and specialized competences, required by Level 4 of qualification, of students from Tourism and Catering Profile in a period of one year;- to develop communication skills in a foreign international language, of 20 students participating in the mobility, in a period of one year;- to improve communication skills, teamwork and cooperation in a new social and professional environment for 20 students participating in mobility, in a period of one year.-to increase the level of knowledge related to occupational heath, safety, hygiene rules and environmental protection for 20 participants in mobility in a period of one year.The group of participants in the mobility is formed of 20 students (two flows - in February and July 2017, of 10 students) from the 9th grade, Level 1 of qualification, Tourism and Catering Profile. The project will develop partnership with five economic agents (restaurants and hotels) from Portugal in 2017. The mobility will last 19 days, out of which 15 days are dedicated to practical training activities and 4 days are meant to develop cultural activities.The internship consists of 90 hours (15 days, 6 hours per day) and they are part of the training LDC Module titled ”Specific Actitivies in Tourism and Catering". The activities during the internships develop as follows:- 12 students, 6 students in two flows, will be assisted and supported in order to assimilate knowledge and to improve their skills in the areas of catering, carrying out the following activities: respecting the rules of hygiene and safety in the restaurant, carrying mise-en-place activity, serving food specialities following the English and French system, taking orders and serving flambé dishes, recommending drinks, cleaning the table, organizing the menu, preparing local dishes.- 8 students, 4 students in two flows, will be assisted and supported to assimilate knowledge and to train their skills in the hotel sector, carrying out the following activities: respecting the rules of hygiene and safety in the hotel, organizing the service in the front office, making reservations, organizing accommodation formalities, promoting the hotel, organizing marketing services, providing information, organizing and performing activities in the areas of accommodation, production, service).The methodology to be used in carrying out the project concerns the collaboration of all the organisations involved, in order to design, prepare, develop all the stages of the project, according to the nomination guidelines. Also, all participating institutions will collaborate to create plans and organise elaborated activities of dissemination, risk prevention and evaluation of the target group and project outcomes and they will take all the necessary measures to achieve the aims and to meet the needs identified in the European Development Plan of our school.The project is expected to have positive impact on the target group (increased level of specialised and linguistic competences, and school performances), school (improved school curriculum, school internationalisation) and community (increased standards of living, raised intercultural awareness).The project is also expected to have long term benefits. As parts of the process of sustainability , we should mention further implementation of projects (following the same patterns, that should address other identified needs of the school), strong partnerships with project partners, seen as potential partners in future projects. After finishing the project, the effects generated will continue to be noticed in: increased level of insertion of graduates the European labour market, improved school curriculum, higher percentage of promovability in the Bacalaureat exam, improved methodology and increased level of internationalisation in "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" High School.
