Multicultural training in remote regions
Date du début: 1 juin 2016, Date de fin: 31 mai 2018 PROJET  TERMINÉ

IHF asbl is a European NGO active in the field of VET and Adult Education, with more than 9000 hrs of specialised training delivered to more than 5000 adults in the last 17 years. IHF is partner of several networks, consortia and projects at EU level; in the last 6 years IHF asbl developed some projects and activities with peer adult educators from remote and ultraperipheral regions (Canary Islands, Ceuta, Iceland, Akaslompolo Finland, Madeira). Through those projects, IHF asbl and colleagues started identifying specific needs for Adult Education in those regions, discussing possible initiatives and approaches to tackle them appropriately. The need for the current proposal arises directly from this situation, and will represent a unique opportunity for IHF staff to experience directly the challenges of Adult Education in those regions, understanding better the specific challenges, and discussing with local partners possible future initiatives. At the same time the project will represent a strong consolidation of existing and new relationships with those partners. The objectives of the project is to improve knowledge and skills of IHF training staff on the specific issues of remote and ultraperipheral regions by exposing them to working and training procedures and practices in other contexts and in other Countries. This will not only strengthen the capacity and skills of staff members, but will result also in an increased capacity and efficiency of the organisation,as well as in a reinforced cooperation with partners from other Countries. Number and profile of participants: a total of 18 mobilities is foreseen during the project, with 2 staff taking part in each of the 9 mobilities planned. Participants will be training and management staff, junior or senior, selected through a procedure already defined and prepared thorugh the steps described in section G3,which include professional preparation, definition of a “Mobility Workplan” and cultural and linguistic preparation. Description of activities: beside the actual mobilities, the project foresees a number of collateral activities: 1. PROJECT MANAGEMENT,revolving around the Project Implementation Unit to ensure sound management of the project as well as formal relationships with partners. 2.QUALITY ASSURANCE, MONITORING AND EVALUATION: based on a number of activities illustrated in the proposal, which include the collection of feedback forms from participants and the drafting of a final “Fiche on QA and Evaluation” to integrate lessons learned into daily practices; 3.MOBILITIES as described above; 4.DISSEMINATION prone to reach at least 10.000 contacts per year.Methodology consists of the following steps:A. At inception IHF will appoint a Project Implementation Unit to contact all partners B. Based on the schedule defined with partners, the PIU will publish an open call for applicationsC. For each mobility, a “Mobility Workplan” will be drafted with specific personal and professional goals, as well as a set of deadlines and milestones for monitoring purposes. For each Country a “Country dossier”will be drafted, describing history, geography, statistical socio-economic data, etc.Participants will be encouraged to take some basic courses in the language of the hosting Country. This will contribute to develop a real multicultural and European dimension of the project.D. Monitoring and Evaluation of the mobilities and of the entire project will be based on the monitoring of each mobility (based on milestones and content identified in the “Mobility Workplan”); feedbacks collected thorough the questionnaires; feedbacks collected from supervisors in case of junior participants. Lessons learned will be consolidated into a “Fiche on Quality assurance and Evaluation” to be used internally by IHF to strengthen internal procedures.E. Dissemination: a wide dissemination activity, based on common and current Dissemination Plans used by IHF in EU projects, will allow to reach an average of 10.000 contacts per year, through the use of different means (website, LinkedIn, press releases, newsletters, etc.)Results and impact:results and impact are expected on different levels:at personal level of participating staff, due to the improvement and enhancement of personal and professional skills and experiences, linked to modernization of training skills, enhanced capacity in tackling multicultural and linguistic issues, strengthen capacity to use innovative training methods. At organisational level, the same benefits will affect positively IHF, who will be able to offer more interesting and stimulating training to its target groups, and improve its action at EYU and international level.Target groups will benefit from this improvement. Ultimately and on the long term the entire community will take advantage from this situation, as better equipped actors will play a role in shaping the adult education scene.
