MPOWERING U2 LEAD UTH - Italian edition
Date du début: 16 févr. 2015, Date de fin: 15 oct. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

"MPOWERING U2 LEAD UTH - Italian Edition" invited youth workers and youth leaders to explore the concept of leadership, looking at its basics, personal application and its application to the empowerment of the young people that youth workers / leaders work with (empowering others, active participation, team and project management, communication). The aim of this proposed training course was to make participants aware of their leadership capacity, working on their self-development in order to empower themselves to be efficient and authentic leaders while working with young people in a non-formal environment. It was a 9-day training course (including travelling) for 31 participants (youth leaders or youth workers) from 13 different countries (Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Greece, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Malta, Romania, Serbia, Portugal, Estonia, Latvia and Poland). During this course, participants were engaged in a number of activities where they have gained an increased awareness of their leadership style and their privileged role when working with young people. They have developed the competences (skills, knowledge and attitudes) that leaders require to impact positively on the lives of young people. The methods that used were those of non formal education, so learning was experienced through discussions, group work, interactive workshops, exchange of experience, creative process and experimentation, reflection times. The previous editions since 2011 in Switzerland , Spain, Ireland and Madeira, were proven to be a big success for the participants with a huge risen awareness of their own leadership styles and how to integrate this gained knowledge into the work and empowerment of their groups in their community. The trainers' team evaluated these editions and, came from the proposal of one of the Italian participants in the last training organised by the Spanish NA, and given the need of leadership and empowerment training in youth work - proposing a sophisticated version which focused on a strong entrepreneurship aspect. The reached objectives were: 1) To assist participants in the personal self-development of their leadership competencies. Helping them to identify the competences necessary to be a good leader, as well as to evaluate which of these competences they already have and which ones they must acquire or still improve. 2) To enable participants to understand and trust their own ability to inspire young people. Through experimentation, group work and reflective process, to help them to become aware of these skills and to put in practice with the rest of participants during the training. 3) To provide participants with good communication and group dynamics skills. Through communication and conflict activities, reflection and theoretical input about communication, as well as with a practical communication session in front of the rest of participants. 4) To explore the participants' organizational skills and how these can be used to support young people in becoming more involved in extra-curricular activities in their community. 5) To discover the value of the Erasmus+: Youth In Action programme as a tool for the development of young people.
