The idea for this group exchange originated in Hasselt by a need to improve our youth council. For several years we have noticed a decline in the number of members. As one of our members attended a World Youth Forum in October we came in contact with the capabilities of Youth in Action. After a thorough selection process, we chose the Youth Council of Gozo ( Malta ). The theme was clear from the very beginning. "Moving Youth Council" we primary want to strengthen our youth councils and ideas to make more promotion for our groups. There are also secondary goals such as forming a group, learn to interact with other youth councils , youth organisations and encourage other young people to carry out these activities. That's why we go on exchange to Gozo from August 1 to August 8, 2014 where we want to achieve above mentioned goals. There are twelve participants from Hasselt between 16 and 30 years. Seven participants are member of the youth council, the other five members are interested in youthwork . We have spread a call, so they could nominate themselves. Candidates had to send a motivation letter. In a democratic way, through voting, we selected five young people. In Gozo, 10 youngsters were selected. Our young people have different backgrounds, many have years of experience in a youth organisation, others are interested in youth participation. In addition, our young people have a very different academic background. The exchange consists of introductory activities, team building, learning through the youth pass method, working around the promotion and strengthening of our youth councils in a creative way. We will use the methodology of the Youthpass, we have implemented a number of activities via this method. Our goal of course is also to give a Youthpass at the end. As a result, we want concrete recommandations that we can use. Both in Hasselt and in Gozo. As impact we hope we can encouragethe youngsters to join the youth council and to spread more information about our youth council. In the longer term, we hope to receive a follow-up project. Next summer we want to invite the young people of Gozo to Hasselt. We also suggest our exchange at a General Youth Parliament, which we will also inspire you to start a project. We also want to share our conclusions with other youth councils in Limburg.
