MOVING THE EU FORWARD
Date du début: 1 sept. 2015, Date de fin: 31 août 2018 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The module “Moving the EU forward” is a tailor-made project to the contemporary teaching and research needs that the EU crisis revealed as a new field of EU interdisciplinary studies. Comprised of three main teaching activities (“Athens Summer School”, “Athens PhD seminars”, “Athens EU model”), the proposed project aims at delivering theoretical and practical knowledge on current EU policy issues to all academic students’ spectrum across and beyond the European borders. The unique multiannual teaching experience that disposes the Department of Political Science and Public Administration (hereafter “the Department”) in the field of European studies, combined with the teaching staff’s astute political and scientific sense of EU issues, will ensure the project’s success and the activities’ viability on a self-funded basis in the future. This project will bring important added value to the multidisciplinary and intercultural study of European studies, introducing more interactive teaching methods (debates, case-studies, feedback process and simulation) and enabling the participation of non- EU students. Also, it promotes Department’s pioneering role since all proposed activities have never been organized before on such basis. More concretely, the “Athens Summer School” will be the first summer school, organized by a Greek University, addressing the challenges and opportunities imposed by the EU crisis. The “Athens PhD seminars” will be a series of targeted seminars to PhD candidates, providing them the necessary methodological and research tools. In the “Athens EU model, the European Commission will be simulated for the first time, offering thus to students a further insight of EU decision-making processes. Overall, this project will have a considerable impact on ‘moving the EU forward” since it will be a multiplying factor in diffusing specialized EU knowledge across and beyond the Department’s European and international network partners.
