„Moving stories" is a cross national dance and theater project forming a collaboration between young artists from Turkey and Germany. They will meet for a period of two weeks in April 2015, thereby initiating an exchange between those two cultures. The idea behind that project was born from the urge to utilize and experiment with contemporary dance as a mean of communication while playing with its possibilities as well as stretching boundaries encountered. The topic framing this artistic encounter will be traditional fairytales of the two respective countries. After a first meeting in October 2014 taking place in Istanbul, the Berlin Tangente Company and the Turkish dancers from the association ANLAT BANA will look deeply into the theme described above while remaining in constant exchange thus preparing the project’s execution taking place in April. During the stay of two weeks in Istanbul participants will use a variety of choreographic and improvisatory methods to develop a dance-theater performance which will eventually be presented to children and teenagers. The public will afterwards be invited to become proactive by joining dance workshops in order to get in touch with the art of dance and gather personal experiences about the subject. In June 2015 the two groups will meet again in Berlin to present their play to a German public as well as completing a video documentation that has been envisaged in order to assure the sustainability of the project. The activities that have been planned to take place in the two respective cities encompass: related discussions, visiting local dance and theater performances as well as museums and educational establishments with a focus on culture, building up ties to the respective art scenes, offering open rehearsals for interested people who are not part of the project, leading discussions with the audience and the creation of a video documentation. The project is aiming to offer young artists the possibility to challenge and expand their artistic spectrum through an intercultural exchange eventually leading to personal growth. Furthermore the project is hoping to raise awareness to the fact that art is an exceptional possibility to promote tolerance, mutual understanding and cultural integration and therefore to be an inspiring example of intercultural education. In the long run we hope to establish a sustainable network of young Turkish and German people who are involved in the arts and who wish to collaborate in order to promote a sense of responsibility, mutual understanding and tolerance across Europe.
