The Irabia-Izaga Association brings together three schools (Infantil, Irabia and Izaga). It is a PAI School (English teaching program) recognized by the Government of Navarra and bilingual in ESO (Secondary School). Irabia-Izaga is a School recognized for its good results in relation to languages both at regional (diagnostic evaluation of the Government of Navarra and European study of linguistic competence) and at national level (among top 100 schools in Spain). The School has a longstanding tradition in the development of projects of educational innovation and is based on the Content and Language Integrated Learning approach (CLIL/AICLE). The European Dimension is included in the Irabia-Izaga Association’s strategy in all its dimensions: bilingualism-CLIL/AICLE, commitment to quality and excellence, a competence-based model, cooperative learning and critical and creative learning. As a result of the strategy and Action Plans of the Irabia-Izaga Association, a global key need has been identified: the acquisition of skills that enable teachers to strengthen the European Dimension in the area of Early Childhood, Primary/elementary and Secondary education. More specifically, this encompasses the following needs: -Acquisition and improvement of teachers’ key competencies -Acquisition and improvement of linguistic competencies and a multilingual and cultural approach: improvement of teachers’ language level and skills for the development of multiculturalism and the European Dimension. - Introduction of innovative didactic and pedagogical methodologies and approaches - Need for improving teachers’ language level and its certification - Improvement of teacher’s leading knowledge and skills In order to overcome these shortcomings the Irabia-Izaga Association has designed the MOVIMEC project (European Mobility for improvement of competencies) The project aims at better understanding the European Dimension in the process of teaching and learning, improving knowledge of foreign languages and other European countries, their cultures and their educational systems, as well as at developing the skills and abilities of their teachers and students. MOVIMEC focuses on 4 main activities: > Activity 1: learning of foreign languages; English Courses of English language, CLIL courses (Content and Language Integrated Learning) and seminars for teachers of English > Activity 2: learning of foreign languages; French -Courses of French language and courses about techniques and resources for teaching French, > Activity 3: pedagogy and didactics. - Learning of innovative pedagogical and educational approaches. Study visits and courses of pedagogical and didactic approaches and methodologies. > Activity 4: new innovative curriculum /educational method/development of training courses - Courses for the development of critical and creative thinking and study visits of the Best Practices. It is expected to involve a total of 69 Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary Education teachers in two years. The expected result is the acquisition and improvement of teachers’ competencies, knowledge and skills in the defined areas (Linguistics, multiculturalism, European dimension, methodologies, pedagogy...) in order to help the Association to achieve the objectives outlined in its strategy and thus becoming a CLIL reference School. The Irabia-Izaga Association expects to transfer the acquired competencies, skills and knowledge to the students as well as to others schools and teachers.
