We are group of young people from 8 Program and Partner countries (Luxembourg, France, Greece, Portugal, Armenia, Georgia, Belarus, Russia) and we are interested to carry out a project on promotion of human rights education documentary film-making "MovieDoc" as it is an issue strategically vital for youth work as more and more education of young people being based on media tools. In the current world full of challenges for democracy like refugee crises, conflicts, security issues and hate speech, young people are particularly vulnerable to social exclusion, instability and aggression. Within the global context of an increased international acknowledgment of the importance of human rights education the European Commission has significantly increased its focus on human rights. Furthermore, the EU considerably strengthened its policy framework in the field of democracy and participation developed a wide range of financial and non -financial instruments to intervene in developing countries, ranging from “classic” long -term geographical assistance, to specific short -term instruments and a wide range of non-financial instruments such as political dialogue, high -level mediation, deployment of EU observers and civic education for young people. Democracy is not possible without equality and having the same access to the rights, that is still the case for many young people with disability or belonging to some minority groups. Also democracy is often associated with society-building, which is usually a case for post soviet union countries and societies in transition. Society-building has become a necessity in many post-Soviet states in the early 1990s, after the collapse of USSR. A bottom-up activating democracy approach, also known as “indigenous empowerment”, is a comprehensive tool that aims to empower local populations (in the frame of this project, more specifically the YOUTH) at the bottom and mid-levels of society by allowing them to consolidate and develop necessary resources for the implementation of a peace process.Accordingly issues and needs we are seeking to address through this project are:• To decrease the level of aggression and intolerance through the civil society organizations/youth workers. • To foster social inclusion especially of the young people with disabilities and fewer opportunities in general• To understand the principles of democracy and participation and its influence on young people's lives.• To understand deeper the challenges faced by young people in social, cultural, ethnic, religious minority groups.• To promote the audiovisual tools, with the concept of educational documentary .Accordingly the objectives of the project will be:- To give participants opportunity to produce audio materials to use in youth activities;- To develop confidence and ability to facilitate introductory film-making workshops for peer groups; - To develop non-formal framework for film-making as a tool for transformative learning; - To promote the presence and the role of young people as positive actors of change in human rights, social inclusion and democracy;- To develop the competences of youth workers and youth leaders in making films in various formats;- To create a space for dialogue among youth and youth workers from Caucasus and Europe for fostering transnational cooperation/trans-regional cooperation in promotion of human rights through documentary film-making activities;- To support the field presence of the European Commission in order to promote the values behind the institution.The training course will take place in Yerevan on 8-16 October 2016. It will gather 38 youth leaders, youth workers and activists from Luxembourg, France, Greece, Portugal, Armenia, Georgia, Belarus, Russia.
