Context/background of project:The 6 day course offered by EUROPASS Centro Studi Europeo with the title "Movie Making and Clip-flairing for Language Teaching" is published on the site of School Education Gateway (http://www.schooleducationgateway.eu/en/pub/tools/catalogue/detail.cfm?id=4462) and will take place in Florence / Italy. The aim of this teacher-training seminar is to provide European teachers with methods and techniques for teaching a language through the creation of short movies and videos.Participants will learn how to create and to work with audiovisual material in a productive and motivating manner, revoicing (e.g. dub) or captioning (e.g. subtitle) a video clip (movie made by the students themselves, film scene, documentary, news piece, animation, song etc.). Taking part in this course will enable the participating teacher, a teacher of music and English at ABZ st. Josef / Salzburg, Austria, to perform a project in our school, which will be making a film clip about our school. Objectives of your project:As educational institutes are nowadays in a considerable contest, it is essential that a school has a good profile. And presenting our school especially, a short movie on our web-page would certainly add to our public interest.Number and profile of participants:Mag. Isabella Triessnig, teacher of English and music at ABZ St. Josef, an upper secondary vocational school in Salzburg / Austria, will take part in this course, as her subjects allow her to work both, in a creative and language based way, and therefore on the required crosscurriculum level. Having collegues in the language and MUBEKA department, it will also be her task to involve them in the project through follow-up activities at school.Description of activities:The activities to create a film clip representing our school will involve: choosing the classes and collegues for the project; checking the needs of the contents; distributing tasks (e.g. subtitles in Croatian - Croation teacher; making of props or costumes / MUBEKA teacher; working on script / language teacher); checking location for filming; creating a script; carrying out the actual filming; working on the material; presenting it.Methodology to be used in carrying out the project:The methodologies to be used will be based on two major aspects: Creativity and language focused work. Creativity will e.g. come into operation when working on the film setting, language focused work e.g. when writing the script.Short description of the results and impact envisaged and finally the potential longer term benefits:The result of this first project will be to create a representative film clip about our school. The impact on the pupils will be to work with technical devices, focus on language, work in a team, work for a purpose.A potential longer term benefit for the teachers involved may be the possibility impulse for further activities, to lose fear of implementing technical tools. For the school itself to present itself to other institutions or parents and future pupils.
