The main focus of the training course was the exploration of the connection between passion and learning. In discussions about learning the importance of finding your passion as a driving force for your learning is often mentioned. We also believe strongly that the connection of passions and learning is crucial for being a life-long learner. In this course we wanted to explore the implications of that connection for as well learners as facilitators of learning.For learners there is the big challenge to find their passion(s), to get aware about what drives them, to know their talents and strengths. To be a life-long learner and to obtain the therefore necessary competence to direct your own learning it is crucial to make your own choices for the learning path you want to follow. Which is not an easy task in a fast changing world that seems to offer an unlimited amount of possibilities. This all put new demands on learners and we see many young people struggling with this.At the same time facilitators of learning have to be able to assist learners in the process of finding their passion and setting out their learning paths.Objectives of the course:- to explore the concept of passion and its' relevance for learning- to support participants in the course to discover their own passions(s) and talents- to explore the connection between your passion and your own learning- to explore facilitation concepts that support learners to unlock their passions- to support participants to implement the outcomes of the course in their daily practiceThe course wanted to give participants the possibility to explore their own personal passions and how to connect that to their learning in order to transfer that experience into looking how to facilitate the learning of others.24 participants attended the course with different back grounds such as youth worker/leader, mentor, teacher, trainer and coach. The 5 days training course took place from 10 - 16 November in il Bergamotto an agriturismo in Amendolea in Calabria, Italy. The methodology of the course was based on the principles of non-formal learning and learning to learn (self-directed learning). Following your passion in your learning means you deciding on your own learning path. The other participants and the trainers were there to support the individual learning process of participants. The methodology was aiming to bring together the knowledge, experiences and approaches of the individual participants. The different cultural, organisational and educational backgrounds of the participants were seen as an important source for learning and further development.The programme combined (small) group work, individual and peer-time, short inputs by the trainers and a wide variety of (creative) methods and tools to guarantee that different styles of learning were met. One of the main aims was to create an environment, atmosphere and structure in which participants could choose their own paths and support each other in their learning journeys. In the first place the course had an impact on the personal and professional life of the participants. The course gave them many possibilities to explore their own learning and the connection between their passions and their learning. All did their personal journeys accompanied by the others and gained more insight in choices to make. Especially the second part of the course addressed the way how they could use this all in their own work with young people and how to communicate the outcomes of their new insights in their organisation. On the last day participants exchanged their plans and next steps after the course and from this exchange it became clear that the course will have an impact on both the work with young people as on the organisations itself.The course had a special impact on the local environment because in some of the activities the population of the village got involved. Participants interviewed some people from the village about their learning and their passions which started lively discussions and exchange. On the last evening people of the village offered to share their common passion for the tarantella, the local music, and brought instruments to play and to teach the tarantella dance.The main focus of this training course is the exploration of the connection between passion and learning. The methodology is aiming to bring together the knowledge, experiences and approaches of the individual participants. The different cultural, organisational and educational backgrounds of the participants will be seen as an important source for learning and further development.The programme will combine (small) group work, individual and peer-time, short inputs by the trainers and a wide variety of methods and tools to guarantee that different styles of learning will be met. We aim to create an environment, atmosphere and structure in which participants can choose their own paths. After the course participants will be able to implement methods and tools within their work with young people in order to put in the concept of passion and learning into their facilitation work. This will serve the young people involved to recognize their passion(s) which hopefully will help them in future choices in life, learning and work and motivate them to take a more active role in their schools, jobs, family and local community.The first impact will be on the individual lives of people taking part in the training course and on the young people they work with. For many (young) people the complexity of nowadays society and the implications of that for making conscious choices on their life-path are challenging. To find your passion, your drive in life can help a lot to make satisfactory choices in private life, study and work.Next to this more individual impact the course wants to have an impact on the educational approach of the partner-organisations. In that way the project has an impact on the quality improvement of the work of the organisations.
