Move it! Discover Europe through volunteering!
Date du début: 1 août 2014, Date de fin: 1 oct. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project of hosting European volunteers entitled " Move it! Discover Europe through volunteering " was created after several years of international relations for the City of Nevers. Nevers has 10 Twin cities in Europe and was involved in several projects for young people (trainees' reception with Eurodyssée, youth exchanges) ; the City of Nevers also wished to develop European awareness as well as the international mobility and the commitment in citizenship of his(her) young inhabitants. The EVS appeared as a particularly adapted device. The example of a young European, personally engaged in EVS and present in our city during about one year seems to be the better way to announce its experience, inform young people and accompany them in their international projects? Our project aims to awake young people in the interest for them to tempt an experience of international mobility. Those who declare themselves interested are informed about the various programs then accompanied in their steps (mostly EVS). For that purpose, interventions of our European volunteers are organized in secondary schools, social centres or other places where we cas find young people. Beyond the projects of individual mobility, our volunteer can participate in projects of group (youth exchange ). The European volunteer will have any latitude to propose actions intended to develop the knowledge of other cultures, European institutions, and to promote European and world awareness. He(she) will meet the assistants in foreign language in the secondary schools of Nevers and can sometimes organize with them certain actions, as well as with the international civil volunteers in Nevers. We wish that through these actions, by rubbing itself in the other cultures, the other languages, all the implied young people (the European volunteers and the young people whom they will meet) grow rich of these differences, wish to volunteer and to discover other countries of the European Union or EU partners. They will gain in autonomy, become more open-minded, increase intercultural knowledge ; they will improve their linguistic competence and other useful technical competence in their future life. This experience should enable them to choose orientation or find easier an employment. One of our volunteers (2012/2013) informed about 300 young people about EVS during her voluntary service in Nevers. 20 to 30 young people are individually received every year. The mobility experience of the young people, their steps may have an impact on the rest of the population: families, acquaintances... The actions of communication led with the volunteers, via social networks and local media, allow to widen our public.
