moussem.eu
Date du début: 1 mai 2011,

A Moussem is originally a cultural and economic manifestation. It means also trans-national mobility of art(ists) and intercultural dialogue creating identity and togetherness without frontiers, taking account of new and old migratory flows. The project Moussem.eu starts an intercultural dialogue on an European scale with the Flemish nomadic art centre Moussem(BE), theatre company DNA(NL) and the Bluecoat with its Liverpool Arabic Arts Festival(GB) and associated partners from Egypt(EG) and Morocco (MA). Moussem.eu starts with 3 artistic exchanging productions in 2011 as a contemporary reflection on the European canon by artists with Arabic roots, working in the common European space: 1. Oedipus/Echnaton, a music-theatre production from Sabri Saad El Hamus(NL) with Egyptian and Dutch artists first, then integrating local artists (GB, FR) for other bilingual versions2. ‘Qui je suis’ a dance-production based on Pasolini and Schubert’s Winterreise by M.Jazouli (FR/MA) and A.Kadi (BE) 3. “WAR” about the experiences of both Belgium based H.Khayoon (with SE theatre-artists) and A.Al Bojrad in Iraq during the wars against the USA and Iran in 2 different productions.A documentary and book will be made of the partners and artists reflecting on European diversity and identity. Starting from the partners actual networks, The ‘Moving Moussem.eu Festival’ in Autumn 2012 will add European art houses to establish an independent network for art(ists) with Arabic roots. For these trans-national artists the European space is daily live reality, even if some don’t have access to regular cultural institutions and art schools. Therefore we will start a sharing platform for needs of European artists with Arabic background and for prospecting experiences in the Arabic world besides a research on introducing students from all different cultural backgrounds to regular High Schools of the Arts on European level based on the long experience of IT’S DNA.
