When in July 2005 it was announced that London would host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012,the partners decided to grab the opportunity to internationally promote the cross-border area and its potential. Indeed, the economic spinoff of the Games is remarkable, this has shown by the strong growth of Greater London, now accessible within one hour from Calais and 1 hour and 20 minutes from Lille.
