Historical and cultural heritage of thebordering countries has always been acommon asset of neighbouring nations, asinteraction of cultures has been presentsince ages. This has been the basis forcreation of joint project between themuseums in Vidzeme (LV) and PskovOblast (RU).The overall objective of this project is torevive the understanding of the commonhistorical and cultural heritage of the borderregions, through intensified cooperationbetween museums, coordinating andimplementing exhibitions in the two countriesand by implementing modern methods ofaddressing the public.The project seeks to increase the capacityof the museums and their staff, throughexperience exchange trips/seminars,museum educational programmes anda conference focusing on preparingexhibitions in a modern, professionalway and at a cross-border scale. Theparticipating museums jointly plan andhost the travelling exhibition with the topicMutual influence in ethnographic andhistory of the cross-border regions both inRussia and in Latvia.
