Vilnius Jerusalem Labour Market Training Centre ( VJLMTC ) is currently delivering (together with partners) a pilot project "Vocational training in the form of apprenticeship in the labour market training centers", No. VP1-2.2-ŠMM-04-V-03-027, during which it faces many uncertainties associated with the apprenticeship process and documentation, namely, the status of an apprentice at work, the form of an apprenticeship agreement, the wage calculation for an apprentice, the harmonization of work and learning process. VJLMTC works with sectors which are particularly affected by the specific needs of staff supply and which therefore face daily shortages of skilled workers. Apprenticeship is seen as the most suitable form of training that can help solve the labor market supply and demand imbalances and to prepare qualified workers. During their apprenticeship, the apprentices learn in their workplace, and some of their tasks are credited as practical training. Apprenticeship is a realistic opportunity to provide qualified personnel to meet the specific needs of the company and the sector since one of the advantages of apprenticeship - curriculum flexibility and adaptability to the company's labour pattern. In order to develop the quality apprenticeship procedures and to prepare reasonable proposals for the further development of apprenticeship in Lithuania, it is necessary to analyse the theoretical data available in foreign countries, and to practically experience how apprenticeship is organised in those countries. Since a visit to a foreign country is not foreseen in the pilot project No. VP1-2.2-ŠMM-04-V-03-027, VJLMTC seeks for such a possibility through the Erasmus mobility + project. During the trip to Italy, VJDRMC specialists will visit Italian businesses, an institution for vocational qualifications or a professional union, and a vocational training institution. During the visits, VJLMTC specialists will observe the processes of apprenticeship, participate in workshops and question-and-answer sessions. Italy, which has been selected as the host country, is currently undergoing a labor reform. The reform has set the development of apprenticeship among the country's priorities. Apprenticeship is governed by Italian laws which are constantly reviewed and improved in order to enhance the apprenticeship implementation. In 2013, new laws were introduced which govern large state incentives for the development of apprenticeship, for example, businesses are allowed to pay lower social security for apprentices, and are offered up to 12 000 Euros in compensation for each permanent work contract with an apprentice. So, Italy is currently one of the most active developers of apprenticeship in Europe. Although Germany and France are leading countries in apprenticeship, the Italian example is more in line with the economic situation in Lithuania. Italian example is a proof of how, in short time, a country can intensify the development of apprenticeship by applying the right legal, financial and organisational adjustments. Project activities and methodology: 1. Visiting Italian businesses: observing apprentice training, question and answer session with the heads of enterprises and apprentices 2. Visiting Italian professional qualification body or a trade union: question and answer session, workshop 3. Visiting a vocational training institution: questions and answers session, workshop. 4. Apprenticeship experience takeover from the host organization, worshop. 5. Consolidation of the experiences and knowledge gained: workshop VJLMTC will send to Italy 3 professionals responsible for the organisation of the teaching process, for the methodology preparation, and for training execution. A panel of competent judges will select the participants following the established criteria. The project will contribute to the creation of the apprenticeship procedure, documentation and recommendations, and it will also contribute to the overall development of apprenticeship in Lithuania
