After the event of district school reorganization carried out last year, when Žiburys gymnasium became the most important school providing general secondary education for young people all over the district, the school leaders and teachers are aware of the fact that modern European school that seeks to provide a high level of training in their region must be open to changes, familiar with the best international practices, cooperating with other schools in Europe in order to actively participate in European joint activities and be able to educate their staff and learners to be European citizens. The organization must acquire the necessary skills to work at the EU level, gain the ability to use European funding for the organization through international projects, and therefore the personnel has to strengthen the professional, linguistic, cultural awareness of other countries and cooperation competencies. As an associated member of the UNESCO network of schools, the gymnasium seeks to participate actively in the European school network, international events and projects, and get to know the tangible and intangible heritage of Europe. To achieve these goals, students and teachers have to have a high level of English and German language skills. The mobility program is voluntarily participated by 3 school administrators, whose aim is to activate the gymnasium project activities, and 7 qualified teacher - methodologists or senior teachers, who are willing to creatively apply the knowledge gained in the courses abroad for improvements to their lessons, to share the newly-gained knowledge with their colleagues from the gymnasium and other teachers from all over the area. Participation in the project will help to strengthen the managerial competencies, improve leadership skills , professional competencies and language skills. This will enable the successful implementation of school improvement plans, will raise the level of English language teaching, more teachers will be able to participate in subject-specific and general knowledge seminars held in English. For organization and implementation of the project activities, a team of 3 people will be appointed by the order of the principal of the Gymnasium. They will deal with the practical and logistical issues. In the group there will work a project coordinator, an accountant and a representative of administration, all of them have some experience of project work. They will ensure the successful implementation of the project preparation activities, the realization of pre-courses tasks, supervise the smooth flow of information dissemination and practical application of knowledge into the process of the schoo life. Improved proficiency level will allow students and teachers to actively participate in international projects, contests and debates, to explore new areas of activity. The school will be open to international cooperation. The participants of the project will become the ventures into new international projects. Applying new methodological knowledge and using improved language skills in their classroom, the teachers will effectively disseminate the knowledge to the students, and this will consequently lead to a better and more successful lessons microclimate and improved knowledge absorption process. Private teachers’ example to seek knowledge, joining lifelong learning program, will have a positive impact on students. The school will be able to successfully pursue their mission - using the new effective teaching methods, to provide quality education to the residents of the district and actively participate in creative formation of personality and developing generic skills and competencies that may be required for each person, so that he can live a full-rate life, find a job and be an active citizen.
