The project intends to cope with the adult distance learning lacks of anonline assistance/teaching, of a mechanism able to maintain learners’motivation, training practical usefulness and attractiveness by designing anew e-learning methodology for professionals of home care healthservices. This training model represents the main project result and itincludes an e-learning system able to interface individually in a humanlikeway with learners and to customize the learning process according tothe their needs. This methodology implies the development of thefollowing main products: COACH-BOT Virtual Agent (Virtual Coach) willact as a personal teacher, coach or peer assisting learners providinghelp, suggestions on the lessons, in-depth information, assessment,dialoguing lessons chatting on contents, case studies through thestorytelling approach, role playing game, technical support. COACH-BOTe-learning platform for modular e-course delivering onmedical/psychological issues, national/EU health laws, social/ethicalaspects of medical home care assistance. The project impact to healthcare professionals will be a more flexible accessibility to trainingopportunities through an individuals undertaking self-directed learningand the maintenance of individual motivation thanks to the Virtual Coachmain functionalities: - EASY TO USE/USER-FRIENDLINESS. By usingnatural language, it does not require that the user learns the meaning oficons or functionalities of menus. Besides it opens the system to peoplenot familiar with PC like elderly or people who have not used it before; -ADAPTIVENESS. It can suit each student’s profile and will adapt thelearning process thanks to the modular path. The adaptive character isalso related to its dialoguing nature and applies to functionalities; -CONSTANT PRESENCE. It is always available to help the learners,teaching and dialoguing;- MOTIVATION. It gives learner emotionalsupport motivating him/her with friendly chit-chat times.
